DD has been reading up and has convinced herself that he would be perfect for our first trip to WDW.
Can I have your comments plus and minus whether this is a good idea :confused3

Would she carry him about all the time?

We hired one (not this trip) and he spent more time in the backpack once the novelty wore off :goodvibes

He is cute though ;)

Kids eh :lmao:

Seriously though - we found him quite difficult to hear with all the noise around !!

Would she be interested in the interactive DS thing that is coming? If it is up and running for your trip?

Why don't you hire one and see how you get on with it and then you can buy one if she loves it. If not then you won't really have lost anything.

As much as I think DS are a great invention I somehow think you would miss some of the detail and magic. So I'll be keeping this to myself ;)

I thought that you could not hire anymore. Otherwise it would be a good idea :)

I would be interested to know if you could hire one too as they are quite expensive, but sound fun.

Been looking on Ebay, but have not seen any. Maybe I should buy one and then sell later.

Anyone want to sell one for May 09 or buy one after May 09?

The way we got around the carrying issue is to clip it onto a lanyard or strap that can be worn across the body and then your hands aren't taken up with holding it all the time.

However we bought ours in 2004 and this will be our 3rd trip using it and it can be a nuisance sometimes. If you take a backpack or similar you'll be alright otherwise you have to protect it on the wet rides or upside down rides. It can also be a problem to hear and you do get the occassions when he doesn't stop talking and you have to keep stopping to listen:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But you do get quite a lot of use at home. My daughter likes to play the games with him when we are away from the park, his jokes are very cheesy though (but he is Mickey, so you laugh!!!!!)

I don't know how much they cost but I do think we have had our monies worth.

I bought one and I am a lot older than your DD ;) :rotfl:

We didn't have a problem taking him around. My youngest DD is quite happy to carry him most of the time, otherwise he's got the clip or we've always got a backpack and he goes in there.

I liked buying him the different outfits best. He's got his sorcerer outfit that he came in, a pirate outfit, a safari outfit, a rain coat/sou'wester outfit that I all bought at WDW and a pin trading outfit that I bought from Ebay.

I agree he was quite hard to hear but he was fun to play with in the queues!! :rotfl2: Between trips he sits on my bed as a cuddly. :goodvibes

Just back (sigh) and we saw a few people struggling with PMs this time - they do seem difficult to hear, and, in the rotten weather, people were obviously worrying about getting them wet.

Personally I'd buy a normal Mickey doll if you like them, and a guide book.;)

I bought a Pal Mickey in April - I really enjoyed him :thumbsup2 Actually gave me something to take my mind off the fact I could go on any of the big rides due to be pregnant! It did make carry him a bit easier as we didn't have to worry about trying to keep him safe on the coasters. :goodvibes

I clipped him on to me lanyard or belt :thumbsup2

Pal mickey will be returning wih us for his 3rd trip in 2 months. eldest ds loves it and has no trouble carrying it around with him. He evens sits and plays with it when we get home, so it was a good investment for us. hth

I dont think you can hire pal mickey anymore. We bought them for our dd's back in 2004 and we then bought one each again the new updated one on our return visit in 2006,. We think there great you can buy clothes to dress them in as well, and you can play games with them when you return home. They cost around $60.00 each in 2006, not sure what they would be now. My son loves his:thumbsup2 They will more than likely traveling on our next trip:yay:

Do you have any more info on the interactive DS "thing"? or where I can find out? My kids would love that!

Pal Mickeys are so much fun and let you know so much stuff it just depends whether it would get carried or left at hotel (etc) :cool1: Hope I Helped :cool1:

I think the troops are set on one, so we will see once we get there.
Thanks for everyone's input :)
