Has anybody been there in the past couple weeks? The menu on the Disney website is dated 7/26/2010, and the ostrich is missing from the appetizers, but it's listed on AllEars and WDWInfo (with the menu dates of 6/10 and 8/10, respectively). Just wondering if anybody can tell me firsthand if it's available or not.

I have heard on other threads that its gone along with the short rib... there goes my whole Jiko meal :sad1: I wish I knew how they cooked that ostrich, my girlfriend and I have been trying but we can't even come close.

Ostrich is difficult. Prepared well, it can be great. But it's not always easy to prepare it well.

That's a huge disappointment if they took it off; it was part of my reason for booking the restaurant. Ostrich is not very prevalent in Maryland, so the chances I have to order it are few and far between.

I was just at Jiko on the 21st and ostrich was no longer on the menu. I was VERY disappointed because I was looking forward to trying something different, but as it turns out the appetizer I did have was awesome. My husband had the wild boar app and I had the bobotie rolls (I think that was what they were called, not sure of the spelling though). I absolutly loved both of them!

I read somewhere - don't remember where now - that the ostrich is gone property-wide at the moment due to supplier issues, and I've seen reports that it is gone from the menus at both Jiko and California Grill. The same thing happened with lamb not all that long ago (must have been around this time of year too, because ppl were blaming free dining for the change) and it eventually reappeared, so I'd be watching for the same to happen here.

Got any tips?:confused3

It has been off the CG menu since at least before our trip this past May. I was looking foward to it when I noticed it was no longer on the menu, which is why we ended up going to Jiko in the first place.

Was just there last night, and yup, no ostrich. I do agree that the Bobotie Rolls were excellent
