Is Olympus VR-330 a Good Choice?

I have been using a Kodak easy share basic camera for a while and would like a new camera. I want something that is easy to use, not too big (can easily fit in a purse), decent zoom and can take decent pictures in low light conditions. I have found an Olympus VR-330 Compat camera on sale for what seems to be a really good price, but I'm not real familiar with Olympus cameras. I would appreciate any opinions as to picture quality, realiability, and ease of use for this camera. I have used a Nikon Cool Pix camera and I had a hard time getting good color quality in the pictures - not sure what I was doing wrong but the images in the pictures always came out with the colors a little off. Any other camera suggestions are also appreciated - not looking for professional quality pictures, just good pictures of every day family moments.

Thank you, I love the photography board everyone takes such amazing pictures!

I used to be a fan of Olympus. Not so much now, I found that the colors of my pictures washed out in comparison to my DH's Panasonic P&S. I eventually went to a Nikon DSLR and love it.

However, you might want to look at the Panasonic Lumix cameras. They are easy to use, relatively compact and take great pictures.

Olympus' colors are one of its strong suits.

The company itself is having some big problems right now so you may indeed find some good deals on Olympus products. There may be a question of future serviceablity if the camera division goes under, although nobody can predict with any certainty what might happen - they could turn it around or they could sell off their camera division, time will tell.

That wouldn't make or break my decision, necessarily. I'd go with the best camera I could find that was suitable for me, not necessarily the cheapest one or the one friends recommended. Look at your own needs and style and then make a decision.

Remember that a really good photographer who knows how to make the camera sing can get a great photo with a cell phone.

I have to agree with you about the Olympus's color. It really stood out. I have a Kodak, a Fuji, and a GE. Recently bought an Olympus and took various photos of the same subject to compare and I found the Olympus has the best true color and was the most vibrant of all the camera models I own.
