Is Olivia's that busy?

Just got a rude surprise. Tried to book Olivia's for 5 (4 and a high chair) on our arrival day in the evening (58 days out). They only had 8:05 open and then when I tried to book it was gone!
I haven't booked any other places yet and now I'm nervous!
I honestly didn't think booking a resort restaurant would be that big a deal!
Is Olivia's usually that busy or is tech glitchy again?

Well normally I'd say it's a glitch, but March seems to be this weird abyss right now with everything pretty much gone according to my own trying and many posts lately, so I think maybe it's real!

It's super small and does have its ardent fans so that doesn't surprise me at all. When me and my wife went in June when the resorts were first opened to DVC folks it was empty unsurprisingly. The food isn't really worth fighting to get a reservation honestly, it's kinda, sorta mediocre but your experience may differ.

Agree completely, would not go out of my way! But if it's arrival day and you're staying there, sure is convenient with nice views and outdoor seating available!

I think everyone's tastes are different but we LOVE Olivia's. Best southern chicken dish I have ever had. We go several times when we are in Disney.

I have never been and do want to try it since it is our first OKW stay in our DVC travels. I did find some other places limited, and had to switch Jungle Canteen and Mama Melrose to a late lunch (as well as book earlier dinner at Via Napoli). Still trying to figure out the last day. With a 4 and 1 year old, booking any time at all is a crapshoot!

We tried to walk up during our OKW stay and it was packed. We waited close to 90 minutes and were seated around 8:30 pm. It’s not a huge space so capacity has taken its toll. Keep trying to get one through the online reservation finders and I’ll sure something will pop up.

Is dinner at resorts generally busier now that parks close so early? I did walk up to Olivias when I was in Disney about 1.5 weeks ago and had 0 wait, immediately seated with only one other party there. We may have just gotten lucky but feel like limited park hours makes resort dinner packed and lunch a ghost town.

Olivias is a treasure. Okw guests have embraced Olivia’s as a tried and true staple, a very dedicated following. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

It does book up. One option is that you can order to go and just eat in your room. Or you can order the same food from the gurgling suit case or might be the good's food to go (I forget which one) and eat at one of the tables outside. We had ARD's for olivias and loved it so much we ordered from the outside option.

Gurgling Suitcase offers to-go from the Olivia’s menu! Good’s Foods is the quick service that has their own menu but obviously that’s available to-go as well.

They have removed several tables and closed some booths at Olivia's. So fewer places to seat guests. It does fill up from time to time.

Also of note, between Sept 2020 and Jan 2021 they further reduced the menu. I would check and make sure they still offer what you want. They eliminated the scallops.

Don't think the seating is super small. But guests can be a bit of a captive audience unless they want to take the bus or boat to DIS Springs. So sad if they cut the scallops. Lots of cost cutting going on. None of it benefits guests. Agree Olivias is wonderful.
