Is Ohana's do-able with a peanut/tree nut allergy?

Disney is usually great with my son's tn/pn allergy. I've always shied from Ohana's... does anyone know if it's possible. Or is it just too much? He'll be seven at the time of the trip. His big allergens are actually pistachios and cashews (BTDT :sad1: ) but we strictly avoid peanuts as well....

Thanks for any input.

I am not sure the ingredients, but I think it depends on the severity of his allergies as well. If just the smell or residual touch of peanut oils etc cause him to react, you should steer clear of Ohana's. They give peanut dipping sauce to every table, so it is everywhere. While they could exclude it for you, a bad allergy could be triggered in that atmosphere.

I am not sure how much it is used in the cooking process though.

See, that is what I need to know... I knew there was something about dipping sauce. That was it.

I could probably clean off the table... but I bet by the end of the night my nerves would be SHOT. Probably not worth it for sure.

Thanks for the feedback.

My DS has a peanut allergy and he has eaten at Ohana twice with no issues at all. Like every other Disney restaurant they go above and beyond to accomodate us. :goodvibes

Do you mind sharing some about your child's allergies? Mine is contact reactive to tree nuts, but technically not to peanuts.

Did they scrub off the table well for you?

I have been very impressed (except for once) with how Disney handles food allergies. (One server felt bad that Tommy couldn't have the cake so she put M&Ms all around his safe ice cream... sigh...)

In the end I'll have to to get dh's input I guess. It just looked like fun...

I dunno. I am a stress pot when we eat out. You know the whole out of my hands bit...

Two of my kids have peanut, tree nut and shellfish allergies. They're contact sensitive to the nuts and have to eat shellfish to get a reaction. We did just fine at Ohana. The allergies were noted on our ADR, so after we were seated, the chef came to our table to discuss safe food options. We didn't have the peanut dipping sauce brought to our table and the kids only had to avoid the banana bread pudding and the sweet & sour shrimp. They ordered mac & cheese off the kids menu, because they weren't too excited about meat on skewers. Instead of the bread pudding, they each got enormous bowls of plain vanilla ice cream.
