I've heard a lot about chef's making allergy-friendly pancakes and/or waffles as well as dinner rolls. Do they usually have any non-dairy butter to put on them? I'm just wondering if I need to prepare my milk allergic DS(4) to eat these without butter/margarine.

Some places will and some places won't. Unfortunately that's the best answer any of us can give you. At Pop in February, my daughter wanted some margarine to mix with her poached eggs (before we learned of her egg allergy). We were told that they only had shortening. It still tasted fine to her with shortening but it certainly wan't margarine. Yesterday I heard from a chef at Hoop-Dee-Doo Review and he told me that they always have Earth Balance margarine available so I do know that some places have it. You'll have to ask at each restaurant. Brenda with Special Diets may be able to tell you which places carry it.
