It's been almost a month since anyone has posted anything on the trip report board. :confused. I'm so phyched about our first trip that I anxiously check it out several times a day, and am repeatedly disappointed that no one is posting anything.

Someone? Anyone?!?!

September is usually a slow month, E.Jane, kids are going back to school, and people are planning their trips for October. That's why it is so slow here. As Halloween starts, you will see it pick up. Don't fear.

Thanks for reminding me, I never wrote mine for my late August trip.... wonder if it is too late?

It's NEVER too late!!! :)

We shall be there very soon (check out my counter!). Staying in Orlando for 3 weeks with 2 nights at HRH, although we shall be visiting USF many more times during our trip.

One of the UK DISers is currently at HRH and he reckons occupancy is only 20% Is this normal, Notatourist? Hope so, or it's a bit worrying for the long term viability of the whole place.:(

We went there for 2 days last week when we were staying at OKW. It was our first time to go there. We went on Tuesday to US and Wednesday to IOA. We essentially walked on to all rides. My DS got to be on Slime Time Live and won a bike. It was the highlight of his trip. It was very hot last week. It rained every afternoon. Thanks to the outer bands of hurricane Isadore. But, it would rain and be over. We were amazed at the number of characters that were roaming around US and IOA. :Pinkbounc

As October as approached, it has gotten busier thanks to Halloween.

So, it's a bit normal Deb.

It's been slowly rebuilding after Sept 11 2001 tho, so, it's interesting to see it rebuild.

Trust me you don't know what the crowds have been like. If Notatourist says it hasn't been crowded then you need to believe her.

it's acutally around 53%, and mostly booked by europeans. this seems to be "european season". :jester:

I went and reviewed my answer to the earlier question in this thread, and well, yes, Mike, there have been days when it has been packed, but, there have been days when it has not been packed. September, which is what I was talking about , is a slow month for ALL of the parks. I know that you don't realize that was what I was getting at, but, hey, that's your own thing.

You might be only thinking about a limited amount of days only Nwo. Notatourist will know how the entire season has been adding up as a whole. You are basing your findings on a couple of days. I know that all parks (Disney, Universal and Busch) have been slowing building back up to where they use to be but they all have a long way to go. Some people are still leary about traveling due to terrorist activities and also with the economy the way it is currently. I think next summer will be a near record breaking.

There must be something in the water on these boards. I enjoy stopping by to catch up on the latest and plan my next trip but I tell you it's gotten to the point where I feel like I'm sitting in the middle of the back seat between siblings who can't resist carping at one another.

I believe it's okay to disagree. Not everyone's perception is the same. I do not take any information offered on forums as gospel. They are merely the accumulation of people's opinions. I believe a difference in opinion can be expressed without the "I'm right and you're wrong" posts. Please for the sake of those who enjoy reading the forums, give it a rest (or I'm going to have to pull over and separate you!) :p

Thanks and carry on!

Carolyn

...the funny thing is if you look back at all of the bickering you will see a pattern there.... or at least since September. :smooth:

Someone? Anyone?!?!

I have just got back from 2 weeks at the HRH and i plan to post something on the trip report board. Just to let you know, certain mid week days, the hotel was running at 20 & 30 % occupancy, never more than 10 people around the pool! However, during the weekends (HHN's) the place is packed. Infact the HRH had 90% occupancy Thursday, 96% Fri and a full house Saturday. According to a few people who work at the HRH, it is going to pick up, mid week now.

Dear E.Jane,
We just got back, so I'll try to do a trip report in the next day or two. Meanwhile (if you haven't left yet!), if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer.
(Trip Report Preview: We had a FABULOUS time!!) :D :D

I just would like to know ALL the details - the hotel you stayed at, how you liked it, what type of room/view, where you ate, what you ate, how much it cost, which was your favorite ride, which was your least favorite thing!! I just love all the details!!

p.s., no I haven't left yet - still almost 6 months to go!

Hi E.Jane, I haven't seen you in awhile. Its always so strange to see your name! We went to Universal in September. I was thinking of staying onsite but decided since we were going off season that I'd rather stay in a rental house. I need the space from my teenagers. Fortunately, because we were off season I didn't need FOTLA. Our waits were all short.

We visited the Studios & IOA on weekdays. Since we stayed offsite we used the valet parking. For the extra money its worth it for me. That walk from the parking garages added to the park walking is just too much for me. (And I walk 2 miles almost everyday at home.) Of course, if you stay onsite that won't be an issue. I also had my family get to the parks early. By 8:45am we were waiting at the entrance line to the park. Since we have teens when IOA opened we went to the left, like eveyone suggests. It worked out great. Within the first hour dh & our sons had gone on Spiderman, Dr. Doom & on Hulk 2X. Our family did all the dry rides before lunch. We made ressies at Mythos but ended up going early because we were starving. Their food & service were great. After lunch we changed into our suits & did the water rides. We ended the day with that show by Mythos. Since we had previously been to both parks we ended up leaving in the afternoon both days.

I had relatives who went over the summer. They didn't get to IOA until afternoon. They also went on a Sunday. They managed to get on 3 rides before they got rained out. Their kids had an awful time. Thats why I always go early & on a weekday. If you're going in a peak time period you may want to stay onsite; although I've heard that they have modified their FOTLA. Have fun researching!

Hi Jane E. - seeing your name makes me feel disoriented!! lol

Glad you had such a great time! NOw, as stupid as this may sound, I never even considered changing into bathing suits for the water rides. D-uh! I take it there's somehwere convenient to change?

The restrooms are next to the lockers which is next to the stroller rental at the front of the park. They have two sizes of lockers. We rented the larger locker which is, I think, $9. You pay once & can use it as often as you need to all day. We packed a water bag with swimsuits & sandals. (I hate getting my Nikes wet!) I also wore nylon shorts over my one piece suit. It was HOT the day we went so we were glad that we saved the water rides for the early afternoon. Not everyone changes into swimsuits. (A lady on the Popeye ride noticed that the rest of us had on our suits. She whipped off her tee shirt to reveal her bra & said to her husband, "it looks just like a bathingsuit top!" At least her tee shirt stayed dry in that center storage unit. LOL! I just know that I get soaked on any water ride that I go on, especially that Popeye ride.
