Is my Magic Band still functional?

I went to Disney last year in August, and got a magic band. Will it still have my tickets and my info on it this August, having bought tickets on MDE? Including After Hours tickets? Thanks in advance!

It is a link to your MDX account—nothing more—so yes. Nothing is “on” it.

Right but like... how long would it last before the battery runs out or something?
A MB does not use its battery for most of its most important basic functions (like park entry and FP use.)
For those functions, a MB can last for the better part of a decade (or more.)

Otherwise, the internal battery is only used on secondary functions (like activating a few ride photos and a couple of miscellaneous visual "triggers.")
and it is designed to last between 2.5 and 3.5 years... give or take.

Although this doesn't help you now OP, I read a trick on these boards that I now do and instead of putting my name on the back of my band, I put the month/year. Actually like that better since I keep my bands and it is nice to have the dates on back. I think for my upcoming trip I was able to put GFV919 or something like that, which I loved.

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

the only issue with batteries is whether the long-range battery has worn out. This is the battery that works with long-range scanners, the ones that do things like upload your ride photos - the scanners that work without your having to actually touch the magic band to them. The band should work with touchpoints indefinitely, and the long-range battery should definitely last more than a year.

I'd just make sure to check the bands are still active in MDE. If you didn't de-activate them, they should be active, but it is very easy to double check.
