Maybe she's just interested in cooking? I got into cooking when I took home ec in jr. high. By high school I'd start dinner for my mom, so all she'd have to do was finnish it up when she got home from work. She thought I was being helpful, but really I just wanted to pick what we were having for dinner most nights!
