Is my contract stuck in limbo?

Why do you assume that daily mousekeeping would double our housekeeping dues? Does DVC pay a flat rate to housekeeping cast every time they clean a DVC villa? Or do they simply pay the salaries of housekeeping cast? If they pay the salaries, the only way it would double our housekeeping dues is if daily housekeeping would force resorts to double their housekeeping cast.

We hire Disney to provide property management and they determine the cost based on what we want.

So, when we get billed, it’s based on the number of housekeeping needed to do the job.

They thing is that could happen is that not only would we need to pay more but they could decide that check in time moves from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm along with increasing costs.

If Disney doubled the cost for housekeeping because they said it would now take that to clean daily, we’d be stuck with that.

I personally don’t want daily housekeeping so I hope that there are enough owners out there who feel the same and would not push DVC to make that change!

Housekeeping is the single-largest charge in the cost components...

As I have come to use DVC as a product, I actually prefer the lack of daily housekeeping (it was something I thought I wouldn't want) - especially in the large villas. I'd be happy if they came in every day and made my bed, but that's really about it...

I do wish they would collect more in dues to replace and/or repair the furniture between refurbishments. I'd be willing to pay more for that.

I can't remember - do all resorts currently offer housekeeping for a fee? I seem to recall that that is sometimes available and sometimes not. That seems to me like a much more sensible solution than increasing the frequency of housekeeping across the board. I'd be willing to pay for a full cleaning once or twice during a weeklong stay if it were priced appropriately - maybe $25/cleaning for a studio and then add $10/cleaning for a 1 BR, $20/cleaning for a 2 BR and so on.

Nobody knows... but the fees are quite substantial... I feel like $60/day? We looked into it at a prior VGF stay and quickly realized it was silly and unnecessary...

On DCL, with all the bed conversions I love the twice daily Housekeeping, but at DVC it is so nice to just be left alone and not feel ike we need to "prepare" for housekeeping. And, with the changes @Sandisw outlined, if we need something, we just call guest services and it is dealt with easily and promptly...

On the DVC member site it says additional housekeeping is available for a fee, but doesn’t list the prices. In this thread it was reported to be $30 for a studio, $45 for a 1 br., $60 for a 2 br., & $75 for a GV a year+ ago https://www.disboards.com/threads/housekeeping-at-dvc-villas.3957824/
I suspect they’re still having issues w/ filling housekeeping jobs, I saw a group of about 10 CMs who were being trained by a housekeeper at AKV Jambo last week & other than day 4 of our 7 night stay they never removed our trash which I assumed was because they were short staffed.

I could very much see that being the primary issue. Maybe they vary the cost based on housekeeping staff - if staffing is tight, make the cost high enough that basically no one is going to do it. If housekeeping is pretty well staffed, make it a halfway attractive price. It would not surprise me in the least if, most of the time, they are in need of more housekeeping staff.

I could see DVC purposefully not wanting it to be an attractive price.... They don't want to hire additional staff just to be available to clean rooms if DVC members decide to pay extra... If I were the manager of that area, my philosophy would be "I want it to be such a good deal for us to do this, and I never want to lose money on it"

For me, that's a Nope Sandwich With Extra Nopesauce.

At most (all?) resorts, Housekeeping is the single biggest component of dues. For example, at Riviera, it's $2.17/pt for 2025. If you assume every room is cleaned every other day (and they probably aren't quite that often) then daily housekeeping doubles that.

I do not want to pay an extra $2.17/pt so that I don't have to re-use a towel.

Realistically, an intra-stay clean is not as complete as an inter-stay one, so it wouldn't double it. But still--I do not want to increase the component that is already the largest share of Dues to get an extra clean or two. There is a reason that I cannot think of a US-based timesahre that does daily cleanings. In fact, Disney is one of the most frequent I can think of---some Marriotts have a midweek tidy which is similar, but I'm not sure those haven't been dropped. What's more, several systems require owners with many short stays to pay extra for the extra cleans they impose on the system. Wyndham and WorldMark both do, for example.

Funny story: I was staying at a Doubletree a few days ago. On the second morning I could not find my towel for the life of me! Turns out the reason I couild not find it was that Housekeeping repalced it with a new one, folded and put away. I'm so used to staying in timeshares that it did not occur to me for about five minutes.

I don't want to pay extra either, I just want them 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I definitely agree it would increase. A lot of other timeshare systems don't offer housekeeping at all - guests are even expected to empty their own trash as needed. Some you have to strip the beds etc as well. DVC offers better housekeeping than most.
This is why I dont like Airbnbs 😒

That's the part I like the bed made and trash out ofc, the rest isn't necessary daily

I paid for a cleaning at bcv one bedroom for one of the nights and I want to say it was $40 but dont quote me on that

For me it does make a big difference i just think it'd really nice, I would throw in 50 more cents a point for it 🤣🤣 but im not pushing or suggesting. Always sad to leave our stateroom host after a cruise. Im sure there's something in those dues that I would cut for it

Perhaps they are short staffed because we paid for the full clean and all they did was make the beds and take out the trash and gave us a refund 🤣🤣

sure... the question is would enough folks be willing to pay an extra 1-2 dollars a point....

clearly dvc has decided the answer is no.... or at least the answer is it doesn't matter enough

All I want is for them to come take out the trash daily. Or make the trash cans bigger idk 🤣
This is interesting - have they stopped taking trash as part of the daily security check?

PS there are trash rooms where you can empty the cans yourself if needed.

I didn't know they had trash rooms. I haven't had the trash taken daily on my DVC trips. I only have 1 in diapers now but when I had 2 kids in diapers the trash situation was less than ideal.

Wow..I got a lot and have yet to have a trip where I didn’t come back and find trash gone!

And, we never have much but it’s still always gone when we get back!

We were in a grand villa at Jambo 10/5-12 for 7 nights & the only day they took out the trash was the day 4 trash & towel day. I only noticed because w/ 9 people there was a lot of trash 😆.
I knew there was a room I could take my trash to if I wanted because when I first bought DVC they didn’t do the daily trash/security checks & you had to take your trash out yourself. Last Dec./Jan. in our 1 br. @ VGF they took our trash every day & in Nov./Dec. 2023 at AKV Jambo in a 2 br. they took our trash every day.
