Is MVMCP really worth $75??

We will be at WDW for a few nights in November for a conference at Coronado Springs that my DH is attending. We're going 2 days early to enjoy a little park time together as it happens to also be F&W. MVMCP also starts that week and we're debating about it. We've never been - I was a little shocked at the member price tag still being $75 with tax. Is it really worth all that?? What do you get for that other than lower crowds??

I wouldn't count on lower crowds. If you do a search for the MNSSHP threads you'll see that apparently these parties are way too crowded now and Disney hasn't been very good about clearing the park of non-paying guests.

Others who have attended can give you feedback (maybe the MVMCP's are better?), but I doubt our family will be paying extra for any of these parties on future trips.

We don't feel the parties are worth the prices they charge. We have done them and back in the day they were much better for much less in price.

We were just wondering. There will be another guy with us from my DH's work who is also coming early on Sat & Sun before the conference - we have AP's so parks are no problem for us but he's only willing to buy 2 days worth of tix bcuz there is not much of a discount being offered thru the conference people for just evenings at the parks. He has never been to AK so wants to go there - so we're doing that on Saturday & then F&W at Epcot on Sunday (he's only getting non-hoppers) so we're wondering if we could accomodate him with DTD (or Disney Springs I guess technically) for Mon. night but then maybe ditch him for the party on Tues. night. I know he could also buy a tix for the party but he's really not trying to spend a whole lot of extra out-of-pocket & frankly neither are we. If we didn't have active AP's right now I probably wouldn't have tagged along. But we just moved our only child to his freshman year of college in August & I really just couldn't stand the idea of being home alone. The MVMCP is definitely something we're interested in seeing once but this was sort of a last minute unplanned trip & I don't want to spend a fortune.

We have never missed one in the past, but I am seriously considering skipping the one this year. It's just too much and TOO crowded to make it worthwhile anymore. It's really going to be a huge step for us to not go, but I am seriously leaning in that direction for the first time ever.

Not to sound like an old person with my "Back in my day ......" speech, but in all honesty, the parties have lost ALL of their appeal. You used to get a family photo and freedom in the park to accomplish much more than you normally would ..... All for the low price of <$40. Now it has doubled in price, Disney has greedily upped the park capacity for the party and the magic is pretty much non-existent. No thanks, but we will pass.

MNSSHP is still worth it to us because we like the show in front of the castle, the parade, and the fireworks. We no longer do MVMCP because the show we liked ("Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas") was discontinued years ago, the great photo is no longer included, so the only thing that is really special is the parade and the fireworks. I do miss seeing the Tin Soldiers in the parade but the fireworks are not as "different" as those at MNSSHP (JMHO). So I agree with Bill's assessment of "one and done."

We've done both MNSSHP and MVMCP. Of the two, I'd choose Halloween. For my husband and me, we'd rather spend that money elsewhere. It is simply too crowded. You do get hot chocolate and your choice of cookies or apple slices (for the kids). They will give the apples to adults as well. As others have said, go once and decide for yourself, if the price doesn't scare you away. If your family participates in the Sorcerer's game, they do give special party cards that, I'm told are pretty cool.

Thanks guys! With private college tuition bills stacking up pretty deep now maybe we'll just pass. I would probably do it for $50 pp without too much thought but $75 WITH our DVC discount is pretty steep and we could use that $150 towards getting our son back & forth to home & back over Thanksgiving weekend...

We've never been to either of the mickey parties. The last day of MVMCP, the 18th is also the first day of my bday weekend, my bday is the 20th. I said it let's just try it. And it's the most expensive night. If it sucks we still have 3 more days to enjoy if it's fun well then it's a great kick off to our vaca!

This is our 5th year going during this time. Our third time attending. If it weren't for my granddaughter's first time, I would have skipped it this time around. We have APs. Everyone must attend at least once. We don't mind every two/three years. If DH and I go alone next October - it's time to skip it.

We've done both the Christmas Party and Halloween Party and thought they were ok, but we won't do again. I seriously don't think they are worth the money, but I'm glad we did them once.

That's exactly what I was afraid of - they've raised the price too high to be worth what you get for your money. Disney is doing a really good job of pricing some of us out of a lot of things. Thx

As Annie said, many things at WDW have fallen into the trap of rising prices and diminishing quality. Maybe we just notice it more now because we go so much more often. I don't know. It just didn't seem to used to be like this.

I have done both, and of the two still buy tickets for MNSSHP. I enjoy the trick or treating in the MK, and the special photo ops. Will be at WDW in December (no discount available for my dates) and if my 26 yo son wants to go, I'll spring for it. Creating memories is what it's all about.

We are contemplating it this year, we haven't attended since 2000. But this is a short trip, and we only have one evening available for MK, and it's a party night. So it's party night, or no evening at all.

Also an AP holder (for 10 years now) and so never had been willing to pay for a park admission when I already had park admission thru my AP....but a couple of years ago we took guests who really wanted to do the Halloween party--and the guests treated me to the ticket. It was a good party (getting to dress up, trick or treat, and experience the atmosphere was cool)...but NOT worth an extra admission cost...if you have to buy a ticket anyway, I'd say way worth it to plan your time so that you buy a party ticket and enjoy the park during party hours...but for us, so not worth an extra admission cost...
