Is Mission Space Claustraphobic?

Or, will/do you feel claustraphobic while riding? We too watched the discovery channel show, looks like a great ride, but for the closed in area where you sit. I'm also worried I'll get sick! I can't do Body Wars, Star Tours, Tower of Terror (the dark part with the little lights and when the seats move gets me). I can only do Space Mountain once, and I have to close my eyes at the end. Is there hope for me?! I really want to do Rockin Rollercoaster, but again, it seems the rides that move in the dark get me.
Thanks,
Gretchen

I was worried about being claustraphobic also but, they have air blowing in your face during the whole thing so that helps allot. I had no problems. I even get sick on spinning rides like the tilt-a-whirl and mission space did not bother my stomach at all.

If you are prone to claustraphobia, yeah, it's pretty claustraphobic. My dh is claustraphobic and rode it and he said he felt pretty freaked out when they closed the door. He did ok, but won't do it again. He just loves anything to do with flying planes or space shuttles, so he had to try it. Once may be enough for alot of people (but not for me!).

I get a little freaked out even in elevators, but did fine on Mission Space. I don't like Star Tours or Body Wars at all, I always come off feeling woozy. I am now able to enjoy Space Mountain and I did Rockin Rollercoaster for the first time this trip and loved it! I have never tried TOT and am not sure that I will. I felt fine when I got off of MS, but didn't rush back to do it again. The initial feeling when the doors shut threw me off for a second, but once through that I was fine.

If you are prone to claustrophobia, maybe you'll feel uncomfortable in the ride.
But what I experienced that I did not expect was pain all over when the take off simulating action kicked in! It was gory...

Fun ride, though did it three times

I can tend to get claustrophobic (never did Alien Encounter from all I read) but did MS and was fine. You have the air blowing on you and a video screen to make you think you are looking out the window. Give it a shot, good luck.

I'm a little claustraphobic too.I was worried about feeling closed in but did okay. The air blowing helps.Keep your eyes on the screen and your head held back is what I did and I was okay...heck I did it 3 times after that!!!:earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

If you can't do Star Tours then you definitely shouldn't do Mission Space, it will make you woozy and is in a much tighter space than Star Tours or the Tower of Terror.

I'm only slightly claustrophobic, but sometimes get motion sick, especially if I've eaten recently. The most scary part of Mission Space for me was listening to the incessant warnings before the ride. I'm not saying that they aren't warranted, but they did start to freak me out the fourth or fifth time I heard them. I was fine on the ride itself.

I get claustrophobic in elevators in fear that they break down that I can't get out and that if I pressed the call button, no one would hear it. I find that closed in spaces get to me to, but I didn't have a problem on Mission Space. I do see how someone with this fear can easily get scared because you get into a small box already and then the box closes up towards you once your seated making it even tighter. What is a good idea is just to focus on the screen and the ride. Plus look to your left and right, everyone is there so don't worry. If the ride ever broke down there is a decent slip of room to crawl out so it isn't like you are jammed so close in there that there is no escape. Hope this helps.:earseek:

I didn't find the ride too dark, and the movement was not an issue for me (though I saw some people looking a bit woozy afterwards)...but I REALLY, REALLY think if you have a problem in confined spaces, I'd pass on Mission Space.

My DH gets the whillies in confined spaces and hasn't done Alien 'cause of this. He didn't like the seat restraints on RR either. Loved the ride, just not the bars that go over you. Me, I just get sick. First ride, first park 2 trips ago I didn TofT. Was screwed up the whole day. I really, really want to do Mission Space, looks like I can't tho! Any helpfull hints?
Thanks,
Gretchen
