Is Mickey's Halloween Party worth the money?

I know a lot of people are really looking forward to this. If we stick the the week we are planning (10/9-10/12), then the party is being held for 2 of our 4 days in the parks. I hate to feel like we will have to leave so early for both nights with the already shorter hours. I'm not sure I feel so strongly about it to pay the additional money for our family of 4 with the recent regular price increase in tickets...

Has anybody gone and thought it wasn't worth it after all? Or the opposite, where you really didn't care but ended up loving it?

Opinions appreciated:) Thank you!

We are annual passholders so getting to everything is not a concern. I like the Halloween party because you get to see a lot of the characters dressed in Halloween costumes, some villains, and there is a neat parade and special fireworks show. I would go if I were you. The lines for rides can be long, especially in that 7pm to 10pm range. With the MHP ticket, you can enter the park early (like 3pm) - maybe you go to the pool during the day and go to the park at night??

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for US to go, considering all my daughter wants to do is go "Trick-or-Treating", i.e. standing in long lines for a piece of candy! Why pay $60+ for that!?? :confused3

Does your family like dressing up? Admiring other people's costumes? (which you could do in DL starting 3 hours before the party time anyway) Villains? Spooky things? Villains-themed fireworks? Meet-and-greets? Small parades? Have any adult or near-adults in your party always wanted to trick-or-treat?

If you're not interested in any of those things, or if none of them are much of a priority, then I'd say there's not much benefit to the party. Crowd reports are mixed, but you will most likely have a longer wait for some of the headliners than you would have had with FP outside the party. If you go in expecting light crowds, you may be disappointed.

DCA will be very busy on non-party nights. WoC is generally at capacity anyway, though (at least, the first show for sure). So you can do WoC with about the same wait on a non-party night as a party night.

Besides ocmommy's idea to skip DL until 3 PM on the party day (which is a great idea if you have enough time), another option would be to not get park-hoppers (if you were planning to get hoppers) but buy party tickets for one night. You could visit DCA for the start of the party day and then hop over to DL when the party starts.

Have a great trip!
