Hi all,
My DS is nervous about riding on MIB for the first time and so I want to know if this ride is anything like Buzz Lightyear at MK. DS just LOVES Buzz and so I think I can comvince him to go on MIB if there's a similarity.

Thanks!

Only in the sense that you ride in a car and shoot things with a laser.

MIB is WAAAAYYYYY more exciting and cool than Buzz.

MIB is similar to Buzz but much bigger and better themed. The car does spin a few times during the ride and there is one big alien at the end, but other than that there's not much to be afraid of.

Somehow I knew this...

SHHHHH...don't tell my family, but I really do prefer Universal to Disney.

If you like Universal (ahem) you'd probably like MIB. A lot of spinning around.

Buzz is far, far superior. There is actually a game involved!

My favorite ride at Universal is the ride back to Disney :rotfl2:

Wow, you add so much to this board.

Not. Scurry on back to your rat loving brethren now. K? :thumbsup2

If he likes Buzz, he'll like MIB. Even better if he liked the movie. It has much better, bigger production values than Buzz. Better theming, more targets, and it spins whenever you get "shot." And you can actually hold your gun instead of it being stuck to the vehicle.

One of my favorite things about the ride is the end, where Will Smith will comment on each car depending on the average score they got. He says some funny things... especially to cars with a low score. And if your car gets a high enough average score, you get a special ending scene. It's much more satisfying than simply looking at a board with different "ranks" on it.

Very cool, F-L-A! I think DS will love it as long as the spinning isn't too intense. He has not seen the movies yet.

MIB and Buzz are pretty much similar only in ride concept. Honestly, Disney needed to replace an ageing attraction, and they were restricted by a tight budget. Honestly this shows. Not to knock Buzz, as i thourghouly enjoy it, but the ride itself feels somewhat cheap. MIB however is greatly themed. The city buildings and the aliens all look great. the fact that the guns aren't mounted also make the actual ride more enjoyable. This is honeslty one of the few attractions in which I believe Universal has Disney beat. You and your family should enjoy this ride greatly.

MIB beats Buzz handsdown

Having said that you can play MIB just a touch too intensely so if you want to go again take a short break before you get back at it especially with that steamy alien ending

Enjoy!

cheers

Yes I can like Rats  and Universal too :hippie:

Buzz, although fun, is designed for little kids or those with limited concentration to be able to master. The Scooby Doo target ride at the Paramount parks is just as good. MIB requires more maturity to be appreciated.

Seriously, it's a hoot but it requires multitudes of repeated attempts to actually get close to mastering the game. Buzz can be mastered in a few tries.

There are some online videos of this ride if you search for them.

MIB blows Buzz out of the water! Buzz reminds me of paper cutouts, no real theming at all. It looks cheaply put together. This is my opinion and not an overall reflection or comparison between the two parks. MIB is more engrossing for me. Each time I ride, and I have ridden many times I see something I missed the last times. My family looks forward to MIB as one of our top to do's each trip. I dont know how old your son is but there is fog and spinning at the end, doesnt really last that long but sometimes it gets to me a little. My kids never had a problem though. I hope he enjoys it!

Make sure you don't take a cab because Disney will charge you $9 to be dropped off.

joy...

more bashing...if Disney was superior, you kool-aid drinking fans wouldn't be going to the other theme park boards just to try to convince people.

Im guessing you've probably never even been to Universal anyway, but if you have, Im sure glad I won't be seeing YOU there!!

My son is 5. He is the type of kid who likes to ride something several times w/o a problem and then will all of a sudden become fearful and not ride it again.

This happened with mild rides like Dumbo and even Philharmagic at MK after seeing it at least three times. He loves the idea of zapping aliens and I'm sure he'll appreciate being able to hold the laser gun. I'm more concerned with the spinning. How bad and how intense is it at the end?

On the topic of theming, I absolutely agree that there is something "cheap" about Buzz. It's the same feeling I get when I go through that ridiculous mirrored room on Pooh at MK. They did very little to change it from what it was when it was Mr. Toad's. They could do so much more and so much better. I LOVE Universal. I also like Disney. However, I spend A LOT of time at Disney bc of my son's age. I am not a fan of MGM and when I'm at Universal it becomes more apparent how sad MGM is. There are some very cool rides there, but the theming cannot hold a candle to Universal. JMHO, folks.

NO FLAMES! Thanks for all yor input.

MIB is more intense than Buzz. The spinning is pretty wild. It's also much better than Buzz, both in themeing and in the game portion.

I keep forgetting that no one is allowed to empress a contrarian opinion on these boards. You have to be happy, cheerful and gay, and in complete agreement with everyone else. I am so sorry that everyone got their panties in a wad over my comments.

You may resume hugging each other.

Enjoy your day and MIB.

Contrarian opinion? No buddy, what you did is called trolling. You didn't come here to respectfully express an opinion that others might disagree with. You came here with the full intention of purposely trying to get a rise out of us with your shameless pleas for attention. Your bridge is calling.
