Is Memory Maker the same as the passholder entitlement?

I don't know why you never had the 7DMT ride video show up in your PhotoPass account, because it's my understanding that only a Magic Band is necessary to get it, not having Memory Maker. I would assume that any ride pictures and videos would be available with the AP download.

I thought so, too, but I when I rode SDMT without MM, the photos/videos never showed up in my PhotoPass account- and I was wearing my MB. All seven times I rode it with MM, it showed up.

It may be like that, like animated Magic Shots, the SDMT video and photo do not show up unless you have MM.

Don't all other photo rides have a way you can click your MB to the photo? SDMT does not have that.

I don't believe this is based on MM purchase
The reason is you don't have to pre purchase MM to get it. You can purchase it after you get home. You pay more but you can do it.

Thanks for clarifying. I have read different reports about the AP voucher getting the pp entitlement. My voucher was bought in April but still not activated. Is there a way to upgrade to the new AP so that the pp entitlement is available. I imagine that would still be cheaper the purchasing MM

If you find anything else out about this, please let me know. We have our APs and have used them on two different trips, but we plan to use them three more trips. I wonder how much it would cost to upgrade to a pass with MM?

We rode SDMT twice in August. We did not have MM, but did have Magic Bands. The photos and videos did show up in my account.

Following - our situation is as follows..3 groups traveling...group A is 10/17-10/23, group B is 11/3-11/9, and group C is 11/4-11/9. We were all set to share a memory maker linked to Group A's account (family and friends!)...group B (that's my immediate family) is going to be getting DVC APs so we would have the photo perk...

So - here is the question - if we link everyone as F&F's and we have an AP (we can purchase our DVC APs now but we wont have 'activated' them yet) - do we still need Memory Maker? Or can we get them all for free thru our account instead of Group As?

Part of me is too chicken and we will just keep it the way it is since its already split 3 ways anyway between our friends, but the other part of me figures I should leverage my APs to the max given their price!

I didn't get a new AP.

Premier Passport AP's were grandfathered into the Photopass entitlement when the new passes were announced/released the other day, so there was no need for me to pay an "upgrade" cost to unlock it like other passes do.

But yes, I was allowed access to ALL previous photos from before the upgrade.

How did you get access to your photos? Did you go to a park and talk to someone? I can't access any pictures over mde and haven't heard anything else about the grandfathered in thing. I'll be at dl on Friday, so if I need to chat with someone to get this squared away I'd love to do it then. Thanks!

Yep, my situation exactly. Looks like no one knows this. Sounds like a few calls to Disney are going to be in order.

Do you have a Premier Passport AP?

Didn't have to do a thing.... just opened up the My Disney Experience Disney World iPhone app and I had access to it all in the Photopass section.

Since I seem to be slow in catching on...If I renew into a Gold Pass, which includes the ability to download Photopass pictures, then I will be able to use Photopass photographers, right? No need to also have Memory Maker?

Right.

Though even if you don't renew your pass you can use Photopass photographers. They are free for use no matter what, by anyone. The difference is if you don't have a new AP or pre-purchase MM then the photos cost you $15 each. Or you can buy MM after the fact for $30 more than the pre-purchase cost.

But again, if you have one of the new APs, you can download everything for free. You don't need MM to do it

Anyone can use PhotoPass photographers - you don't have to have a Gold Pass (or any other level of AP) or Memory Maker. What the AP PhotoPass download gives you is free downloads for all your PhotoPass pictures.

So my husband and I are both active Premiere passholders. It is my understanding that we would be entitled to the new photo benefit, correct? We have a trip to WDW in two weeks and wouldn't you know it, I added Memory Maker on to our trip on Saturday right before this kicked in. Assuming I am entitled to the benefit and all signs point to "yes", where would I call to get a refund for the Memory Maker I just purchased?

Yes, I do have the premier pass...So I tried again after reading this. I've been trying on the mde app I have on my iPad and no pictures come up. I tried on my phone, which I don't think I had done before, and there they are. Thanks so much for the info! That'll come in handy next month at the World

My sister arrived at WDW yesterday with vouchers in hand for what previously was just a regular AP (out of state, non-DVC member). She redeemed them at the TTC and was grandfathered in (ie, upgraded for free) to the Platinum AP. So while current AP members have to pay about $100 to add the photopass features, those who have an AP voucher apparently get grandfathered into the most similar of the new passes.

That's interesting. I was hoping that would happen. However, I just got a letter form Disney that mentioned several times "your current benefits have not changed." To me, if they had intended to grant me PhotoPass access, they would have said so.

I wonder if that worked with your sister because she had vouchers as opposed to an already activated season pass.

I just got off the phone with Disney. I was told that if I upgrade just my AP to the Platinum that the only photos that I could download for free are those that are scanned with MY band. No other members in your party or MDE account. Wondering if I should call back and ask another CM the same question to see if it's the same answer.

Yes, that is exactly why it worked that way. There is another thread here dealing with AP changes. A couple CMs that work in ticketing have been posting. They said all vouchers, no matter when they were bought, will be redeemed as the new AP. Existing, active, working AP are unchanged

That makes sense, actually. The PhotoPass would be tied to the AP holder- not to the vacation package.

Do you know how much it costs to upgrade? Is it the difference in what you paid and the new AP?

I always travel with my group and when we had MM on our last two trips, I am the one who always scanned my band and all pics came from my band, so it is not a big deal for us if only the AP holder's band works for PhotoPass pics.
