Is MDE accurate for wait times?

I just check MDE for wait times and mine train isn't even listed. Also the wait times for other rides that should be long this time of year were very short. When I check the Disney wait times app I also have on my phone, it seemed to have wait times where they should be. It also had the mine train on there. Is the MDE app even worth looking at? It didn't seem like it by what I saw.

The wait times in the MDE app are direct from Disney's system and should match the standby wait posted at the entrance of the attraction. That time is most likely overstated.

As for the 7DMT, which version of the MDE do you have? I have the most recent iOS (apple) version and it includes wait time for the 7DMT.

I just checked MDE and it shows 7DMT with an 85 minute wait.

Yesterday the app told me BTM was a 20 min wait , I huffed it over there to find it was actually 50 min . I'd say most times, yes. But not always

I compared that to the actual time in line and it was 50/50 either five min too much or exactly right at least at MK.

If you sort the attractions by wait time, when a ride breaks down it is listed below as "temporarily closed”, so that may have been the issue.

I would imagine that wait times are the same as what is posted outside the attraction, although yesterday I saw an 80 minute wait for Monsters Inc Laugh Floor (longest in the park) posted on MDE which I can’t imagine was accurate!

You would expect that to be the case, but that was not our experience last week. Even closing the app and reopening it, we found that the wait times on MDE lagged the real wait times, at least when they were probably changing rapidly.

We had the same experience - if times changed rapidly (at rope drop, as soon as F! ended, etc), MDE did not keep up. We saw a 20 minute wait posted for SDMT and it was really 90 minutes (we were very close to the ride and walked over to see if the 20 minutes was accurate - it wasn't). This was not at rope drop, so either the ride shut down and reopened or something odd happened to cause the waits to jump - 90 minutes was definitely more realistic throughout each day. Same thing happened at RnRC after F! - MDE said 20 minutes after we exited the theater, but it was much higher when we walked across the courtyard (which was not unexpected, but the wait times are not exactly real time). In general, the wait times were pretty accurate throughout the day, though.

This week wait times were generally overestimated on theMDE app by 5-20 mins. Tour planning app was pretty good. Less than 5 mins off.
