Is making special occasion cards for each ADR a dumb idea?

Will I get booed out of a restaurant?
I was thinking about making a cute little special occasion card to give the greeter/server at each ADR we have booked.

We have some crazy celebrations which ALL ended up getting noted on EACH ADR. I thought it was a nice idea, but this is a first trip and didn't want to seem tacky - just cheesy.

IE:
wedding (2nd day)
1st trip for all of us
honeymoon!
1 week anniversary
graduation....

Thumbs up or down to the idea?

I don't get it :confused3 you want to give the server a card? Saying what? :confused3

Thumbs down.

I can tell you're super excited, but the greeter/server has tons of parties to seat and serve. They aren't going to be able to appreciate your card. Your many celebrations are already noted on your reservation and I'm sure you'll mention them to your server.

Try not to get your hopes up for anything more than a hearty "congratulations" from your server. Sometimes there are extras, but if you focus to much on them, you might find yourself disappointed when they don't always happen.

I was on the fence of "it might be too much"...

Something like "WE GOT MARRIED TODAY!"

I'll let it just sit on the reservation then and not worry about it. I'm pretty sure my overexcited kids will be sure to remind them :thumbsup2

I overthink things. Can ya tell? :lmao:

wear your great buttons and have an awesome trip!

It is hard not to get all caught up and yes, we have all been guilty of that at one time or another :)

No reason why you shouldn't give a card if it's what you want to do. But why give the server a card saying you got married today? Not sure that is relevant to them. It might be nice to make up a card thanking them for making your wedding trip special (and then give it to them AFTER the meal) but I don't see using a card to announce your marriage to your restaurant server, which sounds like you are just looking for extra attention.

Especially if you have all your special occasions noted on your restaurant reservation.

I thought with us going at free dining my extra attention to anal detailing might be appreciated :P Actually, it was probably a moment of weakness that my ADRs and wedding preps are done I think - I needed an extra project :lmao:

I get it. Reminder of occasion cards=dumb idea :thumbsup2

It isn't a dumb idea just over productive. I don't know where you are staying but if you are looking for something fun you might look at decorating your window or door of your room. We are staying at Pop for the week of my 30th birthday and I have my decorations all ready. It have signs make everyday for my door as well as window decorations to celebrate the holidays. You could make something to say Have a Disney Day in the window and then make little signs to post to your door about what that day is ( ex: wedding day, ect) Since we are going to be there for my accual birthday I only have one sign for it but the other days we are doing signs for what park we are at! Then I'm going to have little Mickey's that will be on the door for people to sign or leave notes, ect. Might be something fun although this is usually done at Value resorts with very few window decoations at the Moderates and absolutly NOTHING at the deluxe resorts..

OH also you could plan a in room party to celebrate everything as a family with a cake and such. That would fun and something to plan.

I'm a obsesive planner as well so I understand. Over 3 months out for me and I'm done with everything except my candlelight reservation and a view that I am trying to get a beter time on.

Hope that you have a magical trip and best of luck and congrats on the wedding!

I wish Disney would stop all of this celebration stuff. Grated I got special treatment for having my wedding there (which was totally unexpected), but what once was supposed to be a little thing just to brighten your day and make you feel special seems to have turned into people just fishing for freebies and getting mad when little snowy doesn't get his 15th free cake at a ADR for his birthday that was 4 months ago. Now people are handing out cards listing their celebrations??? come on.

I don't know how all of this works. This is my first trip. I don't expect anything. This is why I asked. Not to have people like you throw little attitudes in like this.

It was just a thought. I overplan everything and didn't know if it was something I should think of doing. Thanks for putting a stinker in my day instead of just ignoring it now that I got my answer. Happy Sunday :thumbsup2

If you don't expect anything, then why would you even consider it?

One reason:

Everyone one of my reservations says this:

celebrating - wedding, 1 week anniversary, 1st trip, graduation, honeymoon

It doesn't make sense. I can't change it. All celebrations pile onto each reservation. Was trying to be organized and find a way to fix it myself.

There's nothing to change. They ask you if you are celebrating anything, and you can choose to tell them. Then it's duly noted. It makes sense to Disney and the people that need to see your reservation who may or may not take that information and do something with it. What are you trying to change?

And then, once you gave them the card, what do you expect them to do with it?

I got my answer thanks all who answered without being poo-cow about it!

Like I said, I didn't "EXPECT" anything ;)

Unsubbing, didn't want some crazy mess of posts just an opinion or two from people who have actually BEEN THERE!

dont worry - you'll get plenty of special feeling without having to remind people of your special occassions, they're on your ADR's, as you said your kids will no doubt tell all the restaurant servers so its a done deal. Disney were lovely to us with our boys birthday being celebrated there, he didnt wear a pin but it was on our reservation, we didnt tell them at hotel check-in or the restaurant that day and they were charming and I think appreciated the laid back way we dealt with it. When the boy was approached by the CM with a little "happy birthday" congratulation he wasnt really that fussed ..... his birthday spent in MGM was pretty much his wildest dream!

One thing does puzzle me though - what is a 1 week anniversary?

My attitude is: don't go in expecting anything, and be pleasantly surprised if a bit of magic happens itself upon you.
