My mom told me that Disney is teaming up with Macy's to do some kind of deal with this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and I would like to know what it is? According to what my mom told me there is gonna be Mickey Mouse And Minnie Mouse holiday decor exclusive to Macy's and it tells me that they will have a balloon of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse together in the parade. I think that this is gonna be Disney's way of wanting to become king of Macy's and I think if this Thanksgiving deal goes well I think Disney will give Macy's millions of dollars and Macy's will strike gold this year

Macy's features a stuffed animal at Christmas. The item used to require a minimum purchase and was somewhat quantity limited. It's not as promoted, doesn’t require an accompanying purchase and is available.

Suess, peanuts and Disney have been used in the past.
It's not a big deal if Mickey and Minnie is this years.

I'd be surprised if Disney is coming up with the $$$ for a float and 2 balloons

Disney is NOT going to be giving Macys "millions of dollars". Disney paid for a float to basically advertise the cruise line. At most they paid $100,000 (the price of a float in the parade, no matter whose it is).

It is not a special collaboration or anything, just Disney paying for a float to drum up business.

There is gonna be a Minnie Mouse balloon in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? That must be what my mom's Macy's Disney Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse animated ornament is based on? Because I had never heard about this animated ornament from Macy's until my mom told me about it and she was the first to get one of these but she hasn't received her ornament yet

I think Disney and Macy's are planning some secret deal if this new Minnie Mouse balloon is a success and with this new Disney merchandise deal Disney is gonna be one step closer to becoming a part of Macy's just like Macy's has TRU Finish Line Shoes Sunglass Hut and Barnes and Noble and Frango Chocolates. Because when you are a company that teams up with Macy's it seems that Macy's gives you a lot of money and that's what Disney is hoping to do with Macy's

I can't tell if @DodgerGirl is joking. Anyway, I see Disney and Macy's looking at this as just another outlet for selling merchandise. Disney gets a more accessible market. Macy's gets more foot traffic from those who want to buy Disney merchandise.

A number of us suspect she is a troll. Just a little Googling and she can find out the answers to about 95% of the questions she asks here. The rest is kind of delusional thinking that everything Disney does is going to be something truly epic, like above, which most all of us know is not the case.

Pretty sure you have it backwards. Companies like Sunglass Huts GIVES MACY'S tons of money, rents space, not the other way around

Not only is Disney having a Minnie Mouse balloon and a DCL float in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade I also learned that Marvel will have the Spider-Man balloon in the parade too. So it tells me that this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will become the parade of Disney and Marvel. And I bet Disney is expecting to make a whole lot of money from this parade alone

I wonder how somebody would quantify the benefit. I would think it is easy to calculate the cost of the balloons. But how do you identify any incremental revenue as a result of the balloons.

And yes, FWIW, I'm a recovering bean counter.

Please be kind.

I am excited for the Macys Thanksgiving Parade and this year will be the very first appearance for Minnie Mouse in the Parade!
I ordered the red sweatshirt with. Macy logo and Thanksgiving Day Parade 2024 but it was not the same holiday red as shown in their photo so I returned it.
I have visited New York just to see the parade and all the special holiday festivities .
Loved the Rockettes Show !
Universal Studios also has a version of the Macys Parade every year with Santa lighting the tree and it is almost as much fun as the real thing !

I would post the article from Deadline but it is pop-up ridiculous, so here's the float/balloon info:

High-Flying Inflatables

This year, six new featured character balloons will debut, including Disney’s Minnie Mouse by The Walt Disney Company; Extraordinary Noorah & The Elf on the Shelf by The Lumistella Company; Gabby by DreamWorks Animation; Goku by Dragon Ball/Toei Animation; Marshall by Nickelodeon and Spin Master; and Spider-Man by Marvel.

Floats

This year six new floats will debut in the Macy’s Parade including Candy Cosmos by Haribo; Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest by Nickelodeon & Paramount; Magic Meets the Seas by Disney Cruise Line; Pasta Knight by Rao’s Homemade; Masterfeast by Netflix; and Wondrous World of Wildlife by Bronx Zoo. New specialty units for the 2024 Macy’s Parade include Strikes Again by Go Bowling!™; The Garriage by Nickelodeon, a whimsical carriage modeled after SpongeBob’s pet snail; and The Grannies Car from BBC Studios’ Bluey. Towed by Ram Trucks, the official truck of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the debuting floats will join a lineup of fan favorites including Santa’s Sleigh. Universal’s Merry Moment by Universal Orlando Resort, complete with stilt walkers, drums and dancers will also delight crowds.

***You do realize that these companies PAY Macy's to be in the parade, right? Also it's not a 'parade of Disney and Marvel' as there are other companies like Universal, Nickelodeon, etc. They are paying to advertise their offerings. Nothing more.

Macy's is involved with a Christmas parade held at Universal Studios or at least has been. Lots of companies take part in the Macy's television parade.

One way they can measure potential impact is the number of people watching the parade on TV. In essence the the balloons are an "in-event" placement instead of a standalone commerical so they can use Nielsen's etc TV ratings to determine how many "eyeballs" are seeing the balloon (advertisement).
