I see that the Luau is quite expensive. Is it worth $150.00 for family of 4? I looked at the menu and it doesn't appeal to me. I'd love to hear opinions.

Thanks,

AnnaM

That comes out to 37.50 each. Is it worth it for the food and entertainement to you? would you enjoy the type of entertainment that they have to offer? You already said that the menu doesn't appeal to you.

Just my humble opnion here.....we've done both the Luau and HDDR....we would choose HDDR any day over the Luau....again...just my opinion....

We're taking our family of 5 to the luau in November - my DH and I went to it in 1996 and really enjoyed it. Now that my kids are so into Lilo & Stitch, I think they will love it, too! It's worth the money to me. After all, we're on vacation!! :p

We went in 1997, enjoyed it, but wouldn't go again! The food was okay, the show interesting, but slow at times. I had much rather spend the same amount of money and enjoy a couple of character breakfasts. Just my two cents.:D

with the other posters. We did the Luau several years ago and while the show was fairly entertaining, the food was really borderline and we were seated far back from the stage.
We have been the the Hoop-dee-Doo several times. Love the entertainment and food! We try to make ressies early for HDD for a close seat, but we were in the balcony once and that was fun, too.

We did it several years ago too and would not do it again. The food was ok, but not worth the price. I'd do hddr or pick another place for a nice dinner.

I agree! HDDR Was amazing but I can't remember much about the luau:confused:

I thought my girls would enjoy the show, but I may check into HDDR. We've never done that only because of the travelling from the hotel. That'll be my next question....:)

Thanks,

AnnaM

We did luau three years ago DH, DD3 and myself. We had a front center table. We really enjoyed the show and the food was OKAY! Not great. We had a good time. However we probably will not do it again. I have heard if you are not lucky enough to get a front table you cant see very well. The atmosphere is good though. This year we are going to Ohana's instead and I cant wait! Good luck with your decision.

I agree with some of the sentiments mentioned. We've been to the Luau twice. The first time we didn't have kids...it was a neat experience. The second time we had 2 kids...it was a neat experience for the kids. At the prices listed, we are probably done.

We have done the luau three times and after the last time, we won't do it again- We felt it isn't worth the money- Haven't done the HDDR in 15 years so we are due to try it again but it is so expensive!

We really liked the luau when we were there on July 27th. We were cautious, almost didn't even book it because of all the negative things we had read about it. Well, I convinced my DH that we should just do it. To me, it seemed like we *had* to since we were staying at the Polynesian. Anyway, I was nervous about the show getting slow or even boring, but it wasn't. It moved at a fast pace and was very entertaining. The food was good, too. Everyone there seemed to be having a GREAT time! They had all the kids dancing on the stage, there were tons of them and they were all grinning from ear to ear! Some of the little girls were even wearing grass skirts! So, yes, I think it is worth it. It definitely wasn't the most expensive meal we ate, especially when you consider that wine and beer are included (if you drink, that's a big plus!).
