Is Liberty Tree like a stouffers frozen meal?

This is one of those places that people seem to feel passionately about one way or the other. Some like me think it is very good, not processed or frozen tasting. Others swear they feed thousands of people a month by reheating thousands of Stouffers frozen dinners. I did see a show on foodtv that showed them making the stuff by scratch. Could it be that this was some acting for a tv show? Maybe, who knows? It is sponsored by Stouffers so maybe they use the same recipe with some sort of processed cheese to make the mac and cheese who knows? Frankly I had better food there than at California Grill which I would never return to. We all like different things and have differing opinions. I say give this or any other WDW restaurant a try, if you base what you eat, where you stay, what you ride, watch, drink and listen to at WDW on only GREAT reviews, you had better stay home. Because everything gets a mixed bag.

The green beans are so yummy! Great meal!

LTT food is good ... not great, but not bad. Not frozen meal-ish, but not not upscale. Still, I have to say that it is the kind of simple food that kids like.
At LTT we had ALL of the characters come by our table 2-3x each!!! At Chef Mickey's -- 1x each character and we waited for each appearance. Same at Crystal Palace.
Plus, at LTT the food comes to the table. No running to the buffet, which is a complete pain with multiple kids. We had birthday cake for my mom's 60th b-day and got lots of attention from Chip and Dale.
AND, if you time it right, you can step outside of LTT and score a PERFECT, uncrowded spot for Spectromagic.
So, despite the less-than-stellar food, it will be a permanent dinner spot for our family!

To summarize,

1) Yes, it is like a frozen meal, yuck.
2) No, it is fresh and delicious, yum.
3) It is good. combine it with the characters and it is a great experience.

Hi
I've never been here but am going to try it in August. I also saw a show about it and they said how many turkeys they cook everyday, so it doesn't look like they're processed turkeys. They also talked about the mashed potatoes being made from scratch, and I can't remember the rest. I don't eat meat, so I won't be eating that, but will eat the sides and was wondering about the waves of grain dish. The name doesn't sound too appetizing. Anyone try the vegetarian dish and like it? Thanks!

We tried LTT for the first time this past trip and didn't care for it at all. Everyone has their own opinion and some people love it!

Here's an off hand not really related question... has anyone gotten any birthday cakes there? We're leaving in two weeks and I'm trying to figure out which restaurant to order my FH's birthday cake at. Thanks! :goodvibes

The LTT was awesome, the food was great, but like other posts said you either like it or you don't. We did not have the veggie dish but personally, I think I enjoyed the salad, dessert, and the sides better than the meat ( i only ate the turkey) Oh and the pic of your daughter is just sooo cute! It would be a dream of mine to work there!!

I have to agree that either you will love it or hate it.

Here's our experience: My family and I ate there on our first trip to WDW in August 2005 and thought the food was horrible. The stuffing tasted like Stove Top and the Mac & Cheese tasted like a frozen dinner. If you are used to homemade Thanksgiving/Christmas dinners, like we are, you will not like the food. Character interaction was great, but definitely not worth the money we happened to pay OOP. It is not on our to-do again list.

I think there are a lot of other good character meals that have better food. This is just my family's opinion. I feel if you have the ADR, try it. There are restaurants that my family & I enjoy, that others hate (Garden Grill, for example, is a favorite of ours that we do every trip).

My whole family HATED the food there....very salty and processed tasting...YUCKO

So what would you suggest? At first I was saying that I would keep this adr anyways, but now I am reading more and more bad about it. Oh my, what to do. I may just have to judge for myself. My stomach doesn't do well with processed food though.

Not to confuse you more, but seriously we loved it here! I cook Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, every year, from scratch and I thought it was good, all 6 of us did. It was definitely better, IMHO, than Chef Mickeys. We did like the fact that it was served family style, I didn't have to monitor four kids at a buffet, and the character interaction was excellant. I also watch the show on the Food Network that showed LTT and if the meals are frozen, they did a pretty good job of pretending to cook turkey, stuffing, etc.

I also agree, if for some reason any of the meal would be from frozen then they do a really really really good job of not letting you know that. I was anxious to come home to try the frozen mean and compare them and the LTT was leagues better!!

...yay for ligonier..i go to school at svc!!!

Add us to the dreadful column. Very bland, tan, unappetizing, frozen-tasting food.

That being said, as you have read, opinions on LTT vary widely. They probably do for most WDW restaurants. Give it a try. It probably won't be your last meal. If it's awful, you can make do with bread and salad and dessert and enjoy the characters. If you like the food--bonus~! Hope you like it!

Ya thats the problem with posting likes and dislikes esp. with food on a post. For example from our experience we dont like Crystal Palace, CRT, or Hollywood & Vine but that's personal choice. Sometimes its best to try and if you don't like it then cross it off your list for future trips. If you are on the DDP you're not really wasting much. Our upcomming trip we are basically going to all the restaurants that we like which is good b/c we know we'll like the food but bad b/c I would like to try new places. Oh well I'm sure we'll have a good time either way!!

We found the meal to be very good. My family enjoys real ordinary food. The only thing we feel was not homemade tasting would be the mac and cheese. Processed cheese here--we like the real cheese. Very few places serve the REAL mac and cheese. Mashed potatoes were real--but to be fair there are many ways families prepare thier mashed potatoes. I like mine but not my mother inlaws. Meat was all real meat. Everything we had was hot and good.:thumbsup2 I read the reports and am glad we went!

LTT gets mixed reviews just like most every restaurant does. Try it once for yourself. That's my advice.

We got a very nice chocolate cake that was enough to serve our party of six a reasonable sized piece. It was basic but very good. Far better than the one I got at O'Hana a year later for my dd's birthday. You can tell them when you make the ADR its a birthday and you want a cake or just tell them when you check in at the podium. They have plenty of cakes on hand so its not a problem.

And to those who say if you cook your own Thanksgiving dinner you won't like this food I have to disagree! I cook my entire Thanksgiving meal, all from scratch and love LTT. Again, this place like all others gets mixed reviews. You won't know until you try. We have also taken family members twice and they all loved it too. And they also cook from scratch from home!

We had lunch and enjoyed it.. I had the salmon it was tasty, and a salad not over the top but good. The character dinner was okay but again there is not a restaurant in WDW that I would rave about. We go to Disney for the fun not the food our personal favorite is wolfgang Puck express tasty food, not expensive and you do not have to stress over ADR's or spend alot of time sitting and eating when we could be doing, however that is what we like about our vacation:dance3: we are the eat to live not live to eat philosophy
