Is Kali River Rapids a scary ride?

My 4 year old is afraid of a lot of rides. Is this one scary at all?

Thanks!

Our five year old loved it--except that we were sitting in the "lucky seat" and got drenched!! Immediately after the drenching, he said he didn't want to ride it again, but in seconds he was laughing again! It's not scary at all, and there is a slight drop where a lucky few get wet. Good Luck! :flower:

I wouldn't say that it was scarry, but more fun. I think that if he can handle rides such as Pirates of the Carribean and the likes, he'll be able to do this. It is a little more intense than POTC but I think the drop is the same plus this ride is a lot more open, so it loses intensity for that.

If he has ridden other rides of the same type and ride format of Kali River Rapids, he'll do just fine.

If your child is afraid of getting wet, they can put on a poncho. Hold their hand for security and he/she will be fine. It is a "do not miss" attraction at AK :teeth: .

My 4 yr old niece (just turned on our trip last week) loved Kahli River Rapids. The first time she wore her swimsuit, since we knew she didn't like getting her close wets. She got pretty wet, but loved it afterwards. Before and during the first part she was screaming and wanted out. She went on it again with her regular clothes and didn't might getting wet at all. It was a big highlight of her trip. She is just 38" tall so got the special lap bar. She doesn't dunk in the swimming pool, hates getting her clothes wet, and panicks about little things but loves Kahli. It's not scray, but expect to get drenched if your lucky!!

My kids only problem with the ride is that it is very short....at least compared to a similar water ride at Disney's California Adventure.

My son rode this last year. He was just under 3 years (tall for his age) and rides most everything in stride. He did thunder railroad and loved it. He didn't like the fire and getting so wet. He said he will ride it this year as long as he has his swim suit on and can change his clothes after!

Thanks for the responses. Believe it or not, I am a little afraid of trying it too! I am a big baby when it comes to rides. I never even liked the drop in Pirates of Caribbean in the dark. :rotfl2: Now you can see where he gets it from.

I will probably try it after reading these responses, although the fire thing is a little weird to me, not sure how he will react. Sounds like we will love it though.

Is the drop really not worse than POC? I have avoided this ride (like RNRC, SM, TT, etc) like the plague because I have motion sickness and will not ride thril rides. I can say, though, that I have ridden Dinosaur in AK a handful of times with no real trouble. I do grip the lapbar like nobody's business on POC when I know we are going over the drop, but that is the only for a second. I'm also okay on Star Tours. Is Kali tame like this?

It is not a thrill ride unless the idea of getting soaked thrills you!
Be prepared to come off the ride looking like someone threw you into a swimming pool.
It happened to me :umbrella:

DD loved it last year and she was just 3 years old. She too got the hot seat and was completely soaked. During the ride she hooped it up after the ride she did not like being wet. After that we brought her bathing suit. But then again DD loves the water has been going under since last year and started swimming in April, on vacation, just before her 4th birthday. Now she swims under water, above water, swims across the pull, swims to the bottom, and does flips while in the water. She has really amazed us with her abilities.

DS2 was just tall enough to ride it (in the special seat) and he LOVED it. Even when he got soaked he said "mom, I'm wet "I told him "yes you are" and he just started laughing :) Compared to a lot of "rapids" rides I've been on at other parks, it's pretty tame.
DD4 & DD7 loved it too.

We rode it for the 1st time last month and holy cow was this a BORING ride! We put on our ponchos so getting wet wasn't an issue, I kept waiting for something to happen and then....it was over! :confused3 My sons are 3 and 7 yrs old and we all felt the same way - what a waste of time! LOL!

I was expecting something at least a wee bit exciting and I'm not a daredevil/thrill-seeker. Dumbo is far more exciting and scary than this ride. The train around the MK is scarier. Sitting on a park bench is scarier! Ok.....I'll stop now :earboy2:

I am the biggest of all babies when it comes to thrill rides. :rotfl2:

I wouldnt even think of trying MS- I do get motion sickness

But Kali River Rapids, is one on my favorite rides.... :cool1:

But seems to me I am always the one that gets the most wet :confused3

Have a great time....

Go for it. One of the best rides in AK.
I thought the scenery was really nice, but all in all I thought it was boring compared to other rides of the same type. Nothing really happened. We barely got wet at all. No going under waterfalls, and it was way too short. We practically walked on because we fast passed it. IMO it's definitely not worth waiting in line for. My 13 year old was highly disappointed!

I would have to agree with some of the above posts......

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

that's about all I have to say on the "thrill" part of the ride, as for the "wet" part of the ride.....IS there a wet part of the ride, I've gone on it several times, and only once did I get a splash (and that was a small one!)

I think your little one will be fine, but you would know better than me! LOL!

Until next time,
John
