Is June a good month for a Disneymoon?

Our wedding is June 12th and planning the wedding has been a lot of work so I've just now started thinking about the honeymoon. My DF and I would really love to go to Disney World. We live in California so we've been to Disney Land many times but have never been to Disney World.

I would like to go right after our wedding but is June a good time to go? If its going to be super hot and crowded to the point of making it an unenjoyable I would rather not. Any advice? We really don't know much about Florida and Disney World but we both love Disney and Disney Land.

If we do go does anyone have suggestions for which hotel might be best (in the value or moderate range)? All the reviews I can find are about kid friendly hotels but that doesn't really help. Any suggestions for other romantic restaurants and activities would also be much appreciated

Yes, it was very hot and crowded. We still had fun.

It will be very stressful though, since it's your first time. The vastness of the Florida park does not compare to California, and you really need to do your research and plan things out. If you are spontaneous and unprepared, it will probably be miserable.

I would start obsessively reading through this forum, and perhaps buy a travel book.

As far as hotels go, it really depends on your budget, so it's impossible to suggest something.

I have been to FL several times in June and it is quite hot and crowded, but it is definitely still do-able. I do agree you need to do a lot of planning and if you want TS dining- you need to start looking into reservations as some book up at 180 days.

I am going in November for my Honeymoon- and as far as hotels go I am going to stay at the moderate Port Orleans French Quarter, it is smaller than the other resorts, and I have heard it is more laid back and romantic. I have never stayed there myself- but I have heard good things!

congrats! you will love WDW - i call it "bizarro disneyland"! it's so different but so familiar!! like others have said, yes, it will be hot and yes it will be crowded, BUT i think it can be fabulous!

the FIRST thing you need to do is run out and buy a guide book - something like the newest "unofficial guide to WDW" and check out travel planning websites like this. it seems weird to need to plan a trip like this, having been to disneyland, but it will make things alot smoother!

i totally think you should go for it, but if you mean THIS june 12th, you do need to get on the stick! the main thing being that all the restaurants at the resorts, especially the popular ones, use a reservation system (that you can access from the web) that is very different from DL and can make you pretty crazy if you want to just have a nice meal or two at the times you want to and think you can just kind of walk up and walk in! but don't let that scae you!!

i would try port orleans riverside - it is a very pretty resort and a moderate. personally, i'd aim for a moderate over a value if at all possible. i also like the POR food court (very reasonable and big filling pasta bar that gives huge portions for dinner and makes easy take away to your room if you need a little snack later!).

also, look into any meals etc... that interest you, see if you can match up any park planning to the restaurants that are easy to get to from the parks you might want to be at. whats really nice about the hot months though, is to just enjoy that hot weather and DO spend time at the resort, at the pool, take breaks etc...

sorry if i've overwhelmed you! but again, i HIGHLY recommend the unofficial guide and getting to work either on your own or with a travel agent on deciding where to stay, what kind of tickets you want to buy and if there ae any specials or deals going that interest you. you will have a great time!!

I would never go in June because of the heat and crowds. With that said, it is doable. Get to the parks a few minutes before they open so you can sight see and ride before the crowds and afternoon heat get there. Leave about lunch time and go back to your room for a nap/dip in the pool, and then return that evening and use your fastpasses (they can be used after the time it says, but only on the same day) and see the night time shows.

You will have to make dining reservations in advance. I highly reccomend joining Tour Guide Mike. If you do that I don't think you need to buy a guide book. It's only like $22 or something and he tells you which days you should go to which parks based on crowds. There are forums where I think the people are more helpful than on the other sub-forums on this website. The wedding subforum is just a special place here.

POFQ is nice and less busy than POR.

WDW is quite different from the one in California as its so spread out and you can't walk anywhere. To make the most of a trip you have to plan plan plan, but it is possible to go without a plan you just won't see everything. Unlike Disneyland you do need to make ADRs though or you'll end up at counter service places all the time.

We were at Disneyworld last year at that time. It was definately hot and crowded. But we still had a great time.
POFQ and POR are what i'd suggest They are both great moderate resorts!
And definately take advantage of the reservations. If I were you, I'd book them ASAP. Some of them tend to book up quickly. Our wedding is in September and we plan on booking our reservations for the dinners as soon as we can!

My wedding was in Disney World last year on June 9th. It is very hot and very crowded..but we still had a ton of fun! You just have to make sure you plan your day properly. We like to go out early in the AM and then back to the hotel for lunch and a swim, that way we are not in the parks at the hottest point in the day...and then back to the parks at night when its a little cooler.

As for hotel recommendations, I would say Port Orleans French Quarter. It is a lot less busy then Riverside and its beautiful and affordable.

As you know, it's going to be hot and crowded. Both of those things are pretty unavoidable. FL summers are also usually filled with daily rainstorms, at least down in South Florida near me.

That being said- you can absolutely have a great time, I think! Like the PP mentioned: plan your day right. Wear the right clothes, apply sunscreen, drink a lot of water, schedule breaks throughtout the day, hit the pool, etc.

I don't think you can go wrong with POFQ. I think it's the best moderate resort by far!

I recommend the Swan/Dolphin as your hotel. As you do your research, you'll find out it's not "official" Disney. All that really means is you won't be able to charge stuff to your room in the parks. The major perks (bus transportation, and extra magic hours) are still included, so it's not a big deal. Others will say S/D lacks "the magic" and I totally disagree. True, there are no Mickey heads hidden in the carpets at S/D, but you are in a great location for a good price.

The S/D is on the Boardwalk, which is walking distance to Epcot, and sort of walking distance to DHS. You'll find that the atmosphere of the Boardwalk is pretty cool and just fun to walk around. I've only been to Port Orleans superficially (just walked around, didn't stay there), and I definitely think the Boardwalk area is cooler.

The problem with the Boardwalk area "official" Disney hotels (Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Boardwalk) is that they are really expensive. They are in the highest tier of Disney hotels; deluxe. I stayed at the Beach Club Villas for my honeymoon, and while it was nice, I don't know if it was really worth $350/night.

You should be able to get a S/D room for well under $200/night. If you or your husband are a teacher/gov't employee or have AAA, you can get your room at a discounted rate. In other words, you would pay pretty much as much for S/D as you would for Port Orleans...the exception being that you would be at a "deluxe" hotel instead of a "moderate".

Just something to consider.

I have been to disney world many many times. 2 - 3 times a year sometimes since I was 2 and i'm 23 (i have family down there). I've stayed at most hotels and I happen to like the Caribbean Beach. The POFQ was a little busy to me but that's my opinion. the POR (Riverside) is very buggy so if you're allergic to anything like mosquito's or spiders like I am it's not a good idea. The Coronado Springs is also very nice.

I know you don't want anything in the deluxe category but try mouse savers dot com (sorry I don't know if it will let me post it straight on here... some forums don't, it's one word) and you can find coupon codes for up to 30% off! When you call just tell them you have a code and they will gladly help you.

A romantic dinner... try Narcoosee's or Citrico's in the Grand Floridian. Great food but a bit of a price tag. I would DEFINITELY recommend doing the dining plan!! It's $52 a day per person but you will spend way more than that in one day each! Trust me!

One must to bring in to the parks with you is a Fan/water spray bottle. I usually fill mine from the water fountains and ask someone that is working one of the drink carts to give me ice. I've never had a problem! So, you always have cold water in there! Wear really loose clothing. I use a Tinkerbell fanny pack also for everything although I get made fun of but I'm usually the one being asked to hold things! Plan out which rides you really want to go on first and head for them. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain & Thunder Mountain are the ones you want to use your fast pass on when you first walk in. One ride that's a go-to is Pirates of the Caribbean because you can walk right on and get a nice cool reprieve.

As everyone said definitely take breaks. Usually around 12 - 3:30 or 4 is the hottest point of the day.

I would say you need 2 days for the Magic Kingdom to see everything, 1 - 2 in Epcot depending on how fast you are! Hollywood Studios is relatively small compared to the others so one day. Animal Kingdom closes at 7 so get there early and definitely do the safari!! The water park parking lots fill up really quickly. By 11 they're usually packed and if there is no parking there's no admittance most of the time! So get there early when they first open as well!

One place to definitely eat is Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary. I usually prefer the breakfast but the dinner is good also! If you like seafood the Cape May Cafe is a buffet style dinner in the Beach Club and that's great too but they have all types of food, not just seafood!

I am a bit concerned about the heat/humidity. Where I live we have very low humidity and it rarely gets above 80 degrees so I am just not sure how it would affect the trip. Talking to my fiance we may just push our Disneymoon back to Sept or Oct. Not ideal but it seems like the weather/crowds and cost of hotels are less then. I am torn between wanting to go right after the wedding and having a better experience when we are there.

I am still thinking about doing the Honeymoon registry since we already live together and own all sorts of household things. What we really want is just a nice trip, and we both love Disney

Just be careful because that is hurricane season hunny. The end of October is ur best bet and then you get to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

I was there this past oct17-23 and loved it. It was still pretty hot, almost 90, in the afternoons, but mornings and evenings were cool. It got cold the last night we were there. Crowds were super low. Even in October you can have a hot or cold spell.

I hear along with being hurricane season, September is god awful hot/humid. I've never been then though.
