Is January or February less crowded than early December?

Hi-- I'm starting to tentatively plan our next trip, but I can't decide when to go. We usually go in the first week of December, but the last two years it's seemed to be more and more crowded. Can anyone tell me whether January or February crowds are any better? Thanks!

We were there the first week of December 2001 and the first week of January 2005. January was less crowded than December. You do need to worry about the weather in January. We were lucky! The week before we were there it was cold and rainy, and the week after we were there it was cold and rainy. The whole week we were there it was sunny and in the 80's! I think (and I could be wrong) that December would be warmer than January.

We were there the first week in Dec 04, and just returned from another trip last week/end of Jan and first of Feb. Between those two trips I felt the crowds were slightly lighter Jan/Feb. Not a big difference in crowd level but noticable nonetheless.

However, Jan/Feb had several ride closures, not to mention the castle work being done. Early Dec was decorated gorgeously for the holidays with only IASW being closed (that I recall). I'm guessing repair work gets done during the early months of the year, after the holidays are over, b/c it's a low crowd time of year. Because of this I would prefer to go in early Dec over Jan/Feb, even with the crowds being slightly larger.

Hope I didn't confuse you!

Thank you for the replies. That's kind of what I suspected-- slightly less crowded/more rides closed for repairs. When we were there in December 2004, it just seemed so much more crowded than in previous years, but I'm wondering too, if that was due to people rescheduling because of the hurricanes. I'm still on the fence. :cool1:

We just got back Saturday and the crowds were manageable but still much higher than years past. With the Cheerleaders and Dance Teams in Jan - Feb and the conventions Sept -Oct and Pop-Warner in Dec I think the "slow" times at Disney World will soon be a pleasant memory.
