We are planning on going to WDW in January 2006, is this a good choice or would another month be a wiser choice?. I am not a lover of very hot weather, so what is January like and is all the attractions etc on then?.

We've been three times and we always go in January. The weather is great and even popular attractions like Dumbo and Space Mountain have short lines. The only con, is that Typhoon Lagoon isthe only water park open. January would be a great time to go

Other than perhaps not being able to swim, January is a FANTASTIC time to go. Stay away from MKL Day and the week of the 1st, and you will simply have the place to yourself.

We went the fourth week of january, and had a terrific time. Walked on Space Mountain even!

We LOVE January. We went Christmas this year and while it was wonderful, we still like Jan better. Weather is fine and there are NO crowds. Avoid MLK week-end and New Years, and you will have an awsome time.

We just went January 4-9 this year with our four boys. Monday was very busy but the rest of the week we didn't have to wait for the rides more than 10 minutes for Mission Space. Splash Mountain was walk on two days we were there we would get off and get right back on. The weather was in the upper sixties most of the week which was like a heatwave coming from Maine in January.

i agree, we went jan 18-25th 2003 and loved it. the mk was the only park that seemed to have any crowds.

we also went to us/ioa and literally walked on everything, that place was a ghost town!

unfortunately we had record low temps in florida that week! 32 degrees one day! but it was -2 when we left massachusetts so we weren't terribly bothered :teeth:

We spent a week in January beginning with the MLK holiday. MK was definitely crowded due to the holiday weekend, but the bonus was that CoP and Timekeeper were both running that weekend. Our 8 yo DS had never seen those rides before since we usually go off-peak (September, early December, January). It was well worth the longer lines IMHO. The rest of the week the crowds were down and we enjoyed short lines at the parks.:D

January of 2006 is when we're planning on going as well. We will be taking our 3 year old, my husband, my mother and myself. I've heard January is supposed to be a really good time to go. I've been there in May (not too crowded) and August (awful!!! would not do this again).

I've always heard that January is a quiet month ::yes:: Should be a nice time.

disneymom1980--I sent you a PM :)

First post here on DIS, so be gentle, y'all!

Based on this thread, I'm also starting to feel a little better...we're taking DS (who will have just turned 2) the first week of January 2005. I was expecting some crowds the first couple days, but, with Jan 1 falling on a Saturday this time, hopefully many will have to return home for work/school that next week.

When do they usually take down the holiday decorations?

Thanks!

Chris

We are planning to arrive in Orlando on 12/31/04. We are planning to have 4 day hopper passes, so expect to arrive early 12/31, using one of our passes that afteroon and evening, staying that night off premises, then checking into All Star Movies on Jan. 1st (our grand daughter's 7th birthday) and staying until Jan. 4th. Does anyone have a clue what we might expect in the way of crowds, or any hints you might share. This is our first trip. I also wouldl like to know if the Christmas decorations will still be up on Jan. 1st. Also, any special hints for New Years Day Birthday girl?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me when MLK weekend is? I'm not from the US and you guys seem to have a LOT more holidays than us, lol

In 2005, MLK Day is Monday, January 17.

We'll be there the week after that! :teeth:
