Is Jan a good month to go?

We are thinking of going for our honeymoon in jan 2008. I know that there is the marathon one weekend, but is there anything else like that (aka cheerleaders) around this time of year?

Yes, college cheerleaders are in WDW in January, and I believe the competition was last weekend, so maybe it was over MLK Day? High school cheerleaders are also there in February.

We went last year during the last week of January, and it was wonderful. We arrived the Friday after MLK Day. The weather was 15 degrees above normal, and we even swam. The crowds were almost non-existent. The longest line we had during our first day at MK (Friday) was to rent a stroller. The girls ate dinner with the princesses in Norway, and the restaurant was more than half empty. Ariel was just standing around in the lobby, and we had all of the time that we wanted to chat with her, which made my daughter's trip. We found little or even no lines to meet the characters. We just came back from a wonderful trip... from Dec. 31st to Jan15th. On Jan 1st, we had the entire park almost to ourselves till 2 pm... and then we went to Universal and IOA on the 2nd and 3rd and crowds were not bad at all. but on the second week, it was very nice... not to much crowds. I would go on the 2nd weed of Jan again...

January is great for low crowds, with the exception of MLK weekend, but also remember Disney does most of its refurbs and ride maintenance in January. So don't be disappointed if you see that some of the major attractions are closed.

We were there the first week on Jan & it was crowded due to extended vacations from the holidays & the Marathon. The College cheer competition was just a long weekend-1/12-1/15. (which coincided w/ MLK) According to a couple of CM's while we were there 1/2-1/6, they said that the 2nd week of Jan is great & the last 2 as well! One week to avoid is president's week in Feb! We were there 2 years ago & it was CRAZY!! Have fun planning!
