Is it worth using the disney unternal transportation

Or is better to rent a car?
Thanks for your advice!

It depends. If its a very short trip and you don't want to spend time waiting for buses, then rent a car. I have found the buses to be fine. Yes, there can be some waits for them, but all in all, they're just fine.

I think it will depend on your needs. How many will be with you? Any mobility issues? Children or elderly? Are you staying on property?

Disney is great at moving people and their system is good. But you may have specific issues where a car may be your best bet. For example if you are trying to get from one resort to another quickly it could/can be easier to drive so you don't have to go back to a theme park and change buses. But if you are trying to get from the Contemporary to the Grand Floridian you can take the resort loop of the monorail. So it all depends on your needs.

I agree, it depends on your trip plan and your needs. I tend to use a mixture of a rental car and the Disney transportation system. My family tends to do a lot of resort dining and it's easier to drive from resort to resort especially late in the evening. I drive to some of the parks (e.g., AK), but take the bus to others (e.g., MK). So it really depends on your plans and your needs.

We've never used or rented a car in 50 trips...Disney transportation has been adequate for all these trips, plus a money saver having not to rent...

The only time I would not rent a car is if I were staying at the deluxe EPCOT resorts. Otherwise, since we are avid park hoppers, we find that the additional time saved by renting a car equates to another full day of vacationing.

We prefer a car. We can come and go as we please no need to wait for a bus or ride on a overcrowded bus especially on a hot day. If we want to go to the drugstore for something we don't have to pay the inflated Disney price for stuff.

We can stop at Target and pick up water and pop and save a ton of money. the amount we save by eating offsite more than pays for the car rental and gas.

If we want to visit another resort we don't have to get on a bus to go to a park in order to transfer to a bus that will take us to the resort we want to visit. And vice versa - this is a big waste of time. But having a car is a breeze to go to another resort.

We tried using Disney transportation once. We lasted about 3 days. After sitting at the DTD bus stop for nearly an hour waiting for our turn to get on a bus at 11:00 pm - to end up standing while holding a sleeping toddler in my hands, we decided we had enough. I nearly dropped her 4 times from the bumps, etc. This was just the last straw for us.

I think that since we travel from so far away we very much value our time while on vacation. We'd rather have the freedom to come and go as we please instead of being at the mercy of the buses.

To each their own though. :)

I don't mind disney transport overall.... sometimes it takes a little patience, but overall it's fine:thumbsup2 and I like the cost (included!) so when we're in budget mode we use theirs....

My husband and I have slightly differing views. He doesn't like the buses (loves the monorail, boats, etc though) and I don't mind them much with the exception of the end of the day leaving the parks.

We went by ourselves in 2012 and stayed at the swan, so we rented a car. We actually didn't like this much. We just really like the freedom of being driven everywhere (except DTD - black hole for buses!- learned that years ago).

Last year we took our toddler and booked at the swan again, then cancelled it and moved it to the boardwalk inn. This was our best and most relaxing trip in a long time. We were happy to not have to mess with the car seat in a rental, we loved checking our bags on the way home at the resort, and our toddler thought the buses and monorail were fun! We did not go to DTD though.

We never really ever had a problem with Disney Transportation.

You have to expect crowds at closing times or times when crowds are expected, but even then, you will have problems with car traffic!
