Is it worth the splurge???

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and opinions. These are some great thoughts.

I think it might be late to gather up some DVC points at this point but I am strongly considering this for our next trip. I am going to call Disney today for some pricing at the Villas as well as the Cabins. I do not really notice too much talk about the Cabins. Any concerns? Does it still have that Disney feel?

We will use the room as a resting place. I would anticipate a rest every day for a few hours. We also plan on having a few days where we will be spending time utilizing the pool.

It truly depends on you and your family. Personally, we only use our ROOM to sleep in. True the bigger room would be nice, but it isn't worth the splurge to me. However, in April 2013, it is our 10 year anniversary trip and I totally plan on splurging on a deluxe hotel. That will give us extra room in our hotel room, and it will give us the deluxe anemities. That is a good enough splurge for me.

But I can't tell you what is a big enough splurge FOR YOU! Good luck deciding! It sure is fun :)

We have stayed Deluxe all but one of our trips, Moderate once. The only trip I had remorse was staying Moderate. Not because the moderate resort was not lovely. Because I missed the space and amenities. It does matter to my family. We had a nice vacation, but I was annoyed at myself for being cheap when I could have afforded to be comfortable. We only vacation once at year now and we stay at least 10 nights. You know you and your family best. Decide from there. Have a magical trip!:)

I don't know if it is "worth it"..If its a splurge (because you got a bonus..its not your "normal" way of vacationing)..I would think that it will sting at first..but once you are there and enjoying having your own space...you won't be thinking of how much it is costing you.;)...But then every time I would want to go back..I would want the same type of accomodations....:thumbsup2..Disney is very much addicting too...:lovestruc

When we went to Disney..the first time with the kids ( I went as a child..stayed at the Contemporary for one night)..I wanted it to be a relaxing trip because I didn't know how much "DISNEY" my son (who has ASD/SPD) Would handle being immersed 24/7 and being cramped into a room for a week)...We stayed offsite at a very nice townhome in Windsor Hills...We are planning our next trip in less than 2 months and staying offsite again because I LOVED having the space but renting a DVC villa or a Suite at All Stars or a Cabin at FW is not an option for us. ...Okay....you can "flame" me now! :rotfl:

I think you will get more feedback on the cabins if you look at the "camping" section on this board.....

We looked into the Cabins..I hear they are very nice...more private...woodsy feel...I would considering staying there because it looks like they have lots of stuff for kids to do without having to go to the parks.....BUT I have also heard that while staying there..you will want to rent a golfcart and that can add extra $$ onto the cost.

The issue with the cabins is that they are so spread out that it can be a long walk to the bus or boat. But they are very nice.

I love the Cabins. It is very relaxing and quiet. If you have a car, you can park in your own driveway. You can rent a golf cart which is fun at night, a lot of the campers decorate their sites w/lights. I love that the kids can go to bed & the adults can stay up and watch tv. Nice boat ride to/from MK.
