Is it worth the extra $13.00 to switch to EA from counter?

A friend of mine has ressies for 12 days in the fall for a full size car, total w/taxes is $252.30. That is using his DC discounts and coupons. He wants to know if it is worth it to change the level from his current counter to EA for an extra $13.00? I've never rented from National so I can't help. What do you all think?

TIA,

Vonda

its nice to be able to just walk to the EA aisle and pick your car without having to stand in line.....why is it 13 more?

I'm not sure. I didn't ask. I'll find out why and post.

PS Does his rate sound good?

You have to rent at least an intermediate car to use the Emerald Aisle. Perhaps your friend rented a compact at the lower rate. Paying $13 more for the car of your choice for 12 days is certainly worth it!!

I'm wondering why it is more too. We have 11 days sept/oct for $239 inc everything, with DC discount & DC coupon. That sounds about the same. Our level of service is EA.

The rates change all the time. Maybe if your friend checks again it will be lower. I tried again right after I booked my car & the rate was more. I have no idea why. The next day it was the same as the first time.

It also pays to keep checking the National website!

I spoke with my friend Alan and he said that he had been trying daily for good rates. He has always requested the rates for fullsize cars, using his DC card and coupons. This one time the site said it would need to be changed from EA to counter and then gave the lower rate. He hasn't been able to secure that rate again. The $13.00 higher rate keeps coming up with EA , fullsize and the same coupons.

Sounds weird. He print everything out.
