Is it worth the effort?

We are heading to Disney next Thursday and staying in a one bedroom at Old Key West. We are now planning to come in a day early. We have an offsite reservation for Wednesday night but I wanted to try to stay on site.

I called MS and their are no rooms (1 bedrooms or studios) anywhere on property that night. I was told I could keep calling back to see if something opens up.

So here is my question....

Is it worth it to keep calling? Do you think there is a chance a room would open up? Do you call once a day or multiple times a day?

As you can see I would like to stay on site.

Yes, I think if you really want to stay at a DVC resort it would be worth it to call MS several times a day. They have cancellations/changes all the time. If that fails, have you thought of making reservations at one of the values or moderates for just the one night? Good luck and have a great time!

A long time ago (2000), in a land far far away (Cleveland), we were not DVC owners. We had planned a last minute trip and wanted to stay onsite at a Disney Resort but nothing was available. So we were booked somewhere offsite. I called every day for several weeks and finally - 3 days out from our arrival -Coronado Springs had a last minute cancellation!

So persistence pays off. Definitely have a back-up plan but I would call 2 or 3 times a day if you can. Who knows, if someone else's waitlist comes thru they may cancel their current reservation, leaving an opening for you?! Good Luck!

PS: Coronado Springs was recently refurbished and now has queen beds if you are looking for an alternative.

Yes, give them a call. There was a thread here not that long ago that someone got a room for a night just 3 or 4 days before they got there that had not come through on a wait list.

Well worth calling... DW called before we got on the plane and ther was a cancellation! Keep trying you never know

Just make sure you know when you have to cancel that offsite reservation. Not DVC-related, but I once had a non-preferred hotel booked for a one night stay, while looking for the good rates at the hotel I wanted to stay. Suddenly I saw the good rates open up. But I was already past the cancelation period for the booked hotel, and they would have charged a one-night fee. Since the hotel was only booked for one night...that wouldn't have been a savings.

So make sure you know that cancel date, so you can STOP calling (unless the offsite place is SO cheap it wouldn't matter!).
