Is it worth it?

My kids aren't too much into the scary thrill rides. Can someone tell me if it would be a total waste of money to go to Universal?

Thanks!

Deb

Not at all! Islands of Adventure might be wasted on them, but Universal has plenty to keep even the more timid guests happy.

You don't say their ages, but as a general rule the only truly 'scary' attractions are Terminator, and Jaws. Earthquake may make the most timid of children a bit uneasy and if they are afraid of coasters Revenge of the Mummy will be too much for them.

My son is 8 and does not really like really scary rides - he loves Universal.

There is plenty for children at US, ET/Barney/Curious George/Woody's Nuthouse Coaster for example - less so at IOA but still both are worth a visit.

IOA gets a bad rep, IMO, for no reason. Pteronadon Flyers, Accelatron, Flying Unicorn, Camp Jurassic, Bilge Rat Barges, Me Ship the Olive and everything in Suess Landing are kid friendly.

Mummy is far more scary than Terminator and Jaws. Not because of the coaster part but because of the theme and effects. It's one of the best rides in Orlando, but not for kids that are timid at all.

It's pretty hard to answer the question without knowing the ages of your kids. We did USF, but not IOA. Our 4 year old liked Jimmy Neutron, Barney, the Animal Planet show, and Fievel's playground. But that's about it. Our 7 and 10 year olds really liked MIB, Terminator, Shrek, and Mummy. They both thought Twister and Earthquake were ok, but not great and they both thought Jaws was incredibly boring.

Embarrassing as it is, my kids are 11 and 14. My youngest will go on some coaster rides, but oldest...no way!

I just didn't know if Universal Studios just had rides, so we'll probably give it a try.

Thanks everyone for your input. Now to check out the website provided earlier :)

Thanks!

Deb

My two oldest are 6 and 4 and we loved IOA/UO last time we went. They LOVE Spiderman and enjoyed many of the rides!
