Is it worth getting the QS dining plan if you plan to pay OOP for 2-3 TS meals? To clarify, we are staying at BCV, so no free dining for us. We are 4 Disney Adults. Staying 7 nights in March.

TS restaurants would be:

Teppan Edo and at least one character meal. Could be talked into another TS.

Decisions, Decisions?

Some people like the QSDP for the "prepaid convenience"... and others obtain value from the mugs.
But if you don't love the mugs, you are unlikely to achieve much savings from the QSDP. If you're traveling in 2012, you will need to get an average value out of each QSDP of $16, plus an average snack of $3.... just to break even. Virtually all CS breakfasts are under $10... so if you would use any of those credits for breakfast, it will make it that much harder to break even.

Any suggestions on the TS restaurants?

That depends on your preferences. Many good restaurants and many mediocre ones at Disney.
You mentioned a character meal -- For food quality, Crystal Palace was the only character meal with good food that I experienced. (Compared to CRT and Chef Mickey).
Les Cellier is the most popular TS reservation at Disney.

If paying OOP anyway, the signature restaurants really do offer superior quality, and not that much more costly than regular TS restaurants.

I'd pick Flying Fish based on where you are located. The food is fantastic!

Character meal wise we always do a breakfast when paying oop. I'd do Crystal Palace or Tusker House, just depending on which characters you are more interested in seeing.

I find that the qsdp is a better deal the more kids you have that are not disney adults. at $12 dollars they get 2 kids meals that are at least $5.50 plus the mug, plus a snack, if you do WPE or go to a place that does not have kids meals they can get a large meal that more then makes the plan worth it. For adults you have to BIG on dessert and soda to make it a good value and order expensive things.

Losing the snack really makes next year less of a value.

The only real reason I am leaning toward the QS is that my DH is all about knowing most things are paid up front. He has this phobia of coming home with a credit card bill. I thought if he thought most of the meals were already taken care of, he wouldn't think about the OOP table service meals as much! I know...very sneaky on my part.

Plus, we don't like to be tied down to very many ADR's. Sometimes our moods change once we get to WDW. Since our kids are older now we would like to travel less commando! I know that will be tough for me, but I'm willing to give it a try.:laughing:
