It really is hit or miss depending on how crowded it is, the server, etc. We celebrated my DH's 50th birthday at Disney and I had it mentioned on all of our ADR's and not one place made mention of it or did anything; for my 50th as well as our 25th wedding anniversary we received many different things: cupcakes, confetti decorated table, certificates, complimentary glass of wine (upgrade to a sutie at our resort as well as flowers).

We celebrated my twins 6th B-day at CP and they got cards and cupcakes, although we had to remind our server at the end of the meal about the cupcakes.

My dh and I also celebrated our 15th anniversary at Kona. We got a very pretty dessert.

Both celebrations were nice, but very low-key. However, when my ds lost his very first tooth at breakfast at Chef Mickey's, our server brought him a special placemat and a cupcake. She also announced to the room what had happened and everyone applauded. Minnie Mouse came back over to give him another hug. It was very special for him and he still talks about it 2 years later. I think it really depends on your server as to how much of a celebration you get.

I agree....hit or miss. We got married at WDW last May, and had our honeymoon annotated on all our ressies. CP put heart shaped Mickey confetti on our table, but other than that, we didn't get even a congratulations at most. (though Yachtsman pulled out ALL the stops, because a dear friend of mine's DH worked there!) Besides being the WETTEST honeymoon anyone could ever ask for, we still had a wonderful honeymoon!!

It is hit and miss. One trip we had balloons and a pic and card in our room for our 25th anniversary, special dessert at Cali. Grill. Then the next time we celebrated my 50th birthday and nothing. I say go expecting no fanfare and be really happy if you do get pixie dust, and remember you are there with the Mouse on your special day:goodvibes

It is a hit or miss. For my birthday, I did not get anything at CRT and noted on the ADR and check in the lady said Happy birthday. But alot of the restaurants for my son he got cupcake and special attention (Tusker House, Hollywood and Vine, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey and Cape May). When we ate at Narcoosee's (my birthday had special menu and another time our anniversary special menu and special dessert), Citricos special menu and a glass of wine, etc.

There's no guarantee you will get anything, but you're not losing anything by noting it on your reservation, either.

:rotfl::rotfl: We were down in WDW last May for my birthday and I so agree about it being the WETTEST time ever.

We were married in Disney in November 2008, went back in March 2009 for my DH's birthday and in May for my birthday and will be going back next month for our anniversary (yes 1year 2 months but we just could not get any more vacation time off last year).

We got alot of congratulations - Boma gave us a great dessert plate with something written on it, so did Sana. We got a few cupcakes, some Mickey Confetti, a card and cake at LeCellier and some other things I am probably forgetting.

I would definately mention it when you make your reservations and make sure to get an Anniversary Button to wear.

Linda

definately hit or miss, but we have celebrated a honeymoon and 2 anniversaries there and ahve gotten everything from free champagne to free dessert, a rose, mickey straws, etc. can't hurt!

Not really sure why it wouldn't be 'worth' it. It doesn't cost anything. You might get something, you might not. When we went to DLR last year, we got some balloons and a card.....were really surprised and happy to get them.

I Loved all the attention I got wearing my birthday button!...yes it was hit and miss but mostly I did get LOTS of 'happy birthday' from ppl. At ALMOST every meal I got a cupcake..at a few the waiter kinda threw the cupcake at me and that was it, but mostly i got sung too and the candle lit...it was fun. At Boatwrights Dining hall the chef personally came out twice AND gave me 2 extra desserts for me and the family..
(btw..I wore my button all week...the conserige told me to the day of arrival..and i didn't want to argue!:cloud9:)
Those that I saw celebrating first timers-kids-got lots of high fives from the cast members and the characters would point to the button and clap kinda obnoxiously, but the kids thought it was cool.
Mention it and celebrate, even if Disney doesn't.

We had champagne flutes and a cup cake from CRT, Coral Reef had the diver and personalised menu (think DH arranged it). At AKL we were given flowers.

It depends on if you want to be told "happy anniversary" or made a big deal over......if it happens. (which it should)

Here is my story:

We were there for our "belated" honeymoon in Dec. It was on all of our ressies, as well as the hotel res.
We wore the buttons, got plenty of congratulations, even CMs asking when was the big day....yada yada, we loved that. It was a great conversation piece while waiting in lines with other guests, brought us back to when we got married 8 years ago. (never got a honeymoon and DH surprised me with this one last summer). :cloud9:

Anyway, at Chef Mickey's we got a cupcake (no biggie) but all our other adrs nothing.....except Whispering Canyon. Our waitress made a huge deal over us, champagne and all. When we told her this was really the only "celebration" we had had she went and got the manager. He came over, made another big deal over us, chatted and bit and offered more desserts.
The next day after a long day in the park the hotel had left a message for us. We called and the hotel mgmt had "something for us" could they deliever it.
The CM brought a bouquet of balloons, and 2 wonderful presents! :flower3: Apologized that we hadn't been made to feel special, as that is why they ask. Since it is the Year of Celebration and they ask, they should acknowledge was what we were told.
It was wonderful, not necessary but wonderful none the less.

We now have pictures from our trip in the wedding Mickey and Minnie frame, along with the little statue we got! It was very nice!

Definately worth it, also make sure you get the pins! We got free champagne, free desserts and cards signed by staff. Also, another couple at one restaurant paid for our dinner and wouldn't let the waitress tell us until we were done with our meal and they were gone! I'll never forget those nice ppl from W.Virginia!

But definately wear the pins, cast members with you happy anniversary or birthday etc... It really makes you feel even more important.

We were down in WDW last May for my birthday and I so agree about it being the WETTEST time ever.

We were there from the 17th to the 22nd, I'd never seen so much rain in my life!! :scared1: Then we went on a 4 day cruise and it rained during that whole time too, even cruise members were getting sick because the seas were so rough! It stopped raining the day our honeymoon ended. :confused3 Someone mentioned that it was good luck. LOL. If that's true, then we should have a very long and prosperous marriage!
