I have ressies for April 27-May 1 for MYW + dining @ the all star resorts....I live in miami and do visit the parks @ least 4 or 5 weekends a year...

Are the discounts on rooms and packages worth it?

I would be the only one in my group to purchase the AP and then would re-book w/ the AP discount? Does anyone recmommend this?

There are no AP rates for packages, they only apply to the room only. You can book up to 3 rooms with the AP. The discounts are usually pretty good, for example if the cost of a value resort, during the value season is $79.00 then the AP rate is usually $49.00.
Now that we are able to book last minute trips the AP is a good deal, especially if you go a few times a year.
Since you live in Florida would'nt you qualify for the Florida rates?

Yes, the AP is worth it if you plan on using it to go into the parks. Do not purchase it thinking that you will always get a good rate on a room. As we all know here, the BRP changed things & people were not wanting to renew their AP's because they couldn't book with an AP rate. True, Disney has stopped the BRP but you never know what they will do next. As helenk has stated, you are a FL resident, you will qualify for that discount as long as you live in the state of FL. If you do not plan on getting the AP for park use, then do not get it. One option for you would be to look into the resident seasonal AP. It is about $100 cheaper than the annual AP. You will have some blackout & if not staying on property, you will have to pay for parking at the parks. Other than that, the perks (as of now) are the same. Again, do not purchase it thinking you will always get that AP discounted room...you may not. Only calculate how many times you will use the pass in the year actually entering the park. If you buy the seasonal & go at least 4 times, it has paid for itself. Anything over that is your savings....

Look at it this way you are going 4 nights. you may get 30-35 off a night that is 120-140 off at all stars. most expensive adult non expiring 5 day tickets 211.94+95.25 (hopper &water parks) = 307.19. cost of a adult ap with no water parks etc 441.98. the difference is 134.79. So in your situation yeah it may save you as much or a bit more than $5 off your room and then it would keep you from getting dining. I'm not sure there is ever much more of a savings from a savings than that off the values. Doesnt sound like a good deal.....however it could mean that you may get a good deal on the upper hotels. like right now the 60 off a moderate puts it at the same price as rack rate of the values.

Edited to note that I didnt even consider the difference for florida resident pass or the fact that when you purchase your other tickets in advance with a package they cost less which means that 307.19 would be 291.83...increasing the extra the ap costs you over a ticket.
