Is it worth it-Animal Kingdom Day ?'s

We have Animal Kingdom planned for Monday June 22 which is a HIGHLY recommended crowd level day.
It is us 3 adults and two 16 year olds, we plan to be there for opening.
We have a reservation for BOMA at 6:10 but I was thinking of switching it to 4:45 so we can do the campfire storytelling that usually happens about 6:30.
Do you think it is worth it to switch things around, in order to explore AKL and partake of the activity or do you think it will take too much of our time away from the park?

If you want to enjoy the storytelling, move your Boma to 4:45.

You should be able to do a lot of the DAK attractions before 4PM, the time I'd exit the park.

(I'd skip Rafiki's Planet Watch and save an hour or more.)

As an AKL and Boma lover, it sounds like a good plan to me. I always schedule time to spend at the resort in addition to my dinner.

My opinion is that June 22nd will be far too hot to enjoy storytelling around a campfire! I stay at AKL all the time and it's cute, but not in that heat. I can spend open to close at AK - and the later you stay, the more empty it gets. Everest is a blast in the dark!

I think we've done almost all the activities at AKL as we did a resort only stay there for a week and it kept us busy. One time we really enjoyed the campfire storytelling and the other time not quite as much but still enjoyable. We got to know the CMS there as they're from Africa on a program. Very friendly staff every time we went and they loved to cut up with our kids and us too for that matter.

Campfires and storytelling sound great. Just not in Florida in June, and not for 16 year olds. At least I don't know of any teenagers of that age who would enjoy it. I'm inclined to believe you would be better off doing something else after Boma. I'm assuming you won't have park hoppers.

Just to be clear, DAK won't be open after dark.

The storytelling is a lot of fun! The campfire is strangely not hot. It's very strange, but it does not generate any heat to speak of. Enjoy the activity and seeing the animals. Take some time to talk to the cultural ambassadors, explore the African Art, the gift shop and lobby!

It will still be daylight at 6:30. I'd try to swap back to a later res, then go out and look at the animals through the night vision goggles after dinner. Or if you can't switch, you can still visit the different viewing areas (even walk down to Kidani) in the daylight (the animal specialists love to chat), and then do the night viewing after you eat.

We do have parkhoppers….we just are looking for something relaxing to do and not really thinking about going back to another park. Animal Kingdom is the last park we are doing before we switch to Universal. It is both of the Girls first trip, so I'm thinking they are going to be more like 10 year olds LOL
