Hello ALL! I have a basic question. My husband and I are on the fence about either BECOMING DVC members or just renting points for our vacation from an existing member. I would appreciate any advise on the procedure for renting points. Thanks in advance for helping me plan our NEXT trip to the MOST WONDERFUL PLACE ON EARTH!

I dont think anyone can answer that question but you.
I would buy instead of renting I want to be the one in charge of my vacations and not have to worry about trying to get points to rent or trusting someone with my money. I just feel better knwing that everything is okay and I can call and cancel if I need to or add a day or take off a day and not have to worry about going through someone to do that.

Well, since it is the difference between booking ONE trip ONE time and buying 35-50 YEARS of trips at today's prices, I'd go for the membership. We figured those $5000 trips every 2-3 years that we used to do before DVC were such a waste, since for just 3 of those trips we could have had 50 years of deluxe accommodations.

If you do Disney once every year or every other year and like to stay in a deluxe resort, then I'd go with the DVC membership.

I did a cost analysis of buying vs. renting points before I did a small add-on at AKV. I figured in the annual dues, as well as the $5,200. buy in cost. I was really surprised to find out I was better off buying the points over renting/transferring from a Member. Reason being, I still had a viable asset that could be sold if necessary. Renting - I was just helping somebody else pay for their points. :)
