Is it worth a visit if...

We are Disney folks and I am wondering if a trip to US/IofA is worth if I can't ride the motion rides. I can ride Soarin no problem. But get sick on rides like, Star Tours, Mission to Mars, and Avatar Flight of Passage. I can do roller coasters without loops.

I would love to see the park and we have an opportunity to go for a couple of days in Nov. I have read a lot about the parks on this board and it sounds like the majority of rides are the motion-based rides like above. I am O.K missing a few rides and enjoying the parks, but I would hate to walk around and feel that there is little that we can do. I would really like to see Harry Potter World and it might be worth it for that.

Any help would be great. If there are a least a few rides worth doing, that I can do, then great.

TIA,

Lasob

It is absolutely worth it.

There are some really nice restaurants in CityWalk.

Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley are fantastic. The shops and Ollivanders wand show are great.

Not every ride is motion intense.

At Universal.......you would be fine doing Shrek, ET, Mummy (is inside coaster with jerky stops and starts and no loops), Escape From Gringotts in Diagon Alley is not bad. Monster make up show is really fun. There are nice shops and restaurants to eat at in the parks also.

Islands of Adventure......you would be fine on Kong, Jurassic Park River Adventure (can get wet on this ride), Hogwarts Express train that runs between both Potter parks. Posidens Fury is a walk through show.

You would have plenty to do at Universal.

There are some really nice dining options at the Resorts also.

This will get you started and others will chime in.

You’re welcome. If you have any other questions someone will jump in and help you.

There is also the Seuss trolly train & carosel, Dr Doom fear fall, the other two water rides (Popeye barges & Dudley Doright flume), and the Hippogriff coaster.

But honestly, seriously consider using the anti nausea patch trans derm scop patch. Lasts 3 days per patch. It is so much more fun not to have to worry or avoid.

The patch worked perfectly for my friend, who without it can't do spinning or various 3D rides (Spiderman did her in). With the patch, she was able to do all the rides. Just could only do MIB once at a time. Speaking of which, if spinning isn't a problem MIB would also be fine for you.

Tried the patch on the only ocean cruise I've done, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. Slept for 3 days. I can't take any over the counter allergy meds either. Zombie time. But thanks for the recommendation.

The Simpsons ride has an effect like the star wars ride in parts.
You might want to skip that one.
I always look at my feet for parts of the Simpsons ride but enjoy most of the parts of it without the lousy side effect of motion sickness.

Animal Actors on Parade is a cute short outdoor show.
Worth doing if you are fond of animals.

The outdoor entertainment is lively.
Blues Brothers show
Marilyn Monroe show

both would take 15 minutes of your time watching

Shrek and Donkey picture taking area is a mini show of its own.
The actors are quick witted and pose with all in the lines for pictures.
If you enjoy those two characters, make time for about ten minutes of watching and listening to them while they pose with guests for pictures.

The minion ride might not be a fit for you as parts in it, could make your motion sickness kick in.

To the OP, I am very like you and I have enjoyed short trips to Universal and I think you would too. Here are links to blog entries from my last short visit. Lots of descriptions and photos so you can see if it looks interesting. I love the Harry Potter sections, but found lots of interesting things to do and see in the remainder of both parks. Day 1 & Day 2

Thanks for sharing your 2015 report
Not many changes in the parks which is a good thing

The pics of the rapture encounter was great!
Thank you for sharing them with us

Thanks for sharing this. It never occurred to me that we would want to go to the Curious George play area (since we don't have kids) but your description actually makes me think we would quite enjoy it.

Just the Harry Potter stuff alone makes it worth it for us (we bought annual passes!). Really love it, they did a great job.
Plenty of other things to see, there are some calm rides too, you can buy an interactive wand to do spells at Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

Watching the talking fountain in IoA interact with kids is pretty good entertainment too.

Yep........I could spend hours just sitting watching when the fountain is interacting........so funny at times!!!

Yes! I loved the Ball Factory! But be careful of all the water in there, you could easily wind up soaked getting to and from the Ball Factory.

Rip Rode Rockit doesn’t have actual loops, fwiw.

Patch is scopolamine.

Then there’s Dimenhydrinate, marketed as normal Dramamine or Gravol.

There’s also Meclizine, which is marketed under Bonine and Less-Drowsy Dramamine.

And there’s non-drowsy Dramamine, which is ginger.

Just in case you haven’t tried all of them, it might be worth the tries.

If I get nauseated from a ride I just deal with it, no matter how junky I feel, and I still ride them. Most people are not willing to do that, and it’s worth trying out all the options if you haven’t.

I do t find transformers to be worth it, but I don’t like the movie, either. Spider-Man is OK but I spend a lot of time with my eyes closed to get rid of the trick the screens play on me. I close my eyes for parts of Simpson’s as well.

Both Forbidden Journey and Gringotts make use of screens, and with FJ I find myself closing my eyes as well. Gringotts is really unpleasant for me from the actual vehicle movement, and I’m over that ride.

Plus I’m still disappointed that they destroyed what would have been an amazing proper coaster to use even more screens.

Just wanted to add that while I can do all of the rides, I find The Simpson's and Jimmy Fallon to be the worst for motion sickness.

Thanks for this info. Very helpful. We are planning to go, and I don't mind missing rides. I am of the type that a ride that makes me sick lasts all of that day and sometimes even the next. After Star Tours I was vomiting and felt sick all day, couldn't eat or ride anything else. No fun.

But I am encouraged by all of the very helpful posts from all of you. Thanks so much.

There is SO much to see and do. If you're an HP fan, just studying the windows in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade is amazing. Lots of shows, Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees, the Frog Choir, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Animal Actors on Location, Blues Brothers...
Also, I like taking in the mechanics of it all. I tend to take off my glasses and watch the behind the scenes stuff. The tracks, how the effects are accomplished, etc. *Ravenclaw* lol

My hubby and sister in law get sick and use the patch to help. Sorry it makes you so sleepy.
