....to get a room at the last minute if you want a studio at WDW with points and you don't care which of the DVC resorts you stay at during your visit? Has anyone been successful doing this? Thanks.

We went on 2 weeks notice once. Except for a few busy times a year, I would think it's doable as long as you're flexible, but I wouldn't want to operate this way for every trip.

It's possible but not guaranteed. Member rooms that are not rented for points are eventually released for cash reservations (I think at 60 days) cutting down the number still available. The best thing for everyone is not to have empty rooms. When last minute means a week or so from travel you are probably looking at snagging a cancellation.

In Jan of this year, I had the opportunity to visit my DD down Miami way, on my way back to Orlando, I stopped at VB just to check things out. I called MS and asked for 3 nites in a studio at BCV (w-f).. got them without a problem. I was kinda hopping that I would get to move at least once.. I think I just got lucky.

We were at OKW the week before Memorial Day scheduled to checkout on Saturday. Friday night we decided to stay another night. I called the front desk, & the same room was mine for another night using points. No problems!

The worst you can do is try & find out there are no studios available. Hopefully though you might get a studio!

Thanks everyone! It does seem like OKW usually has an open room. I figure as long as we are flexible as to where we stay, we will have a good chance at getting the dates we want unless it is the week of Christmas or something like that.
