i heard from someone that there are rats in disney and i'm not talking any of the mickey type rodents. please tell me their wrong.

nope they are there. actually saw one under a bench near the monorail, DD(6) yelled "Look it's Remy!"

We were sitting at the Tomorrowland Terrace eating dinner back in May of 2008 and I had one run across my feet. It then jumped on a girl at another table and into the bushes. It was scary and funny all at the same time. :lmao:

I've been to Disney several times (see my signature) and have NEVER once encountered a rat. That's not saying there isn't any at all. Rats can pop up anywhere and Disney is no exception but, in all my visits, I've never see one.
Last fall I did see a rather scary spider hanging out in a huge web of death but, I just kept an eye on him as I passed by and I also have a fear of things with more than 4 legs so, it probably wasn't as bad as I made it out to be... ;)

Perhaps it was a mouse.

There are squirrels. Does anyone think those are cleaner animals? You're outside. There will be wildlife. Don't feed them.

Spoken by a now squeamish farmer's daughter.

I would have fainted! If rats are there, fine as long as I don't see one.

:scared1: oh i was so hoping that you would say the oppisite i'am so scared of mice let alone rats it will be just my luck that very few people have seen them while they were there and they will probly come out in droves to scare me out of my mind.

Rats, armadillos, alligators & poisonous snakes...WDW has them all! Quite the norm for Florida.

rats are everywhere. I guarantee you have some around your property, you just haven't seen them.

Nah they are pretty elussive. We just were lucky or unlucky to see one.

That's why they allow the cats to stick around.

Except cats are no match for a full grown rat. You need a Jack Russell Terrier to get rid of rats. A friend worked in a horse barn, and one fall, her JR killed 52 rats. :scared1:

yep rats are abundant at WDW, look for the black boxes around....one ran infront of us on the walk from Epcot to the parking lot...yuck!

I saw a rat once and I wasn't surprised considering the waterways and woods all around the area. I think that it's inevitable.

Are you talking about cute little mice or huge rats? There's a difference, although both are YUCKY! As a pp said with the water and woods I'm not surprised - I just hope we never see one!

They release predator animals in the parks at times. There are also supposed to be feral cats about the property too.

Not to further gross anyone out, but there's also cockroaches. Anywhere there's food (and vegetation) there's vermin. Once I was munching on a lovely salad at the old Steak and Ale, and, loaded with reduced fat Italian dressing, out crawled a cockroach. Extra crunchy and loaded with protein.
