Good morning J & K's!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Our was ok...We had a death in the family, and elderly relative that lived a long, full life, but it's still sad I will always miss my Great Aunt Dolly.

So I've been more than a little bummed. And I've been bummed because it;s been 7 yrs since I've had no WDW trip on the horizon and it's making me depressed I'm trying to justify going down for a couple of nights, staying on points (I've rented out most of them, but have 89 left) at AKLV, and just chillin'.. No parks..Even that I'm not sure about...But we have 4 nights boarding for Beauty left over all ready paid for....I guess we could stay home and look at each other for 4 days

So sorry to hear about your loss. I know what WDW withdrawal is like I had six years when we couldn't visit becuase of inlaws with failing health and being a caregiver. I say go for it on the short trip! If you're that close that you can just hop in and back, it would certainly boost your spirits!

Do you end up doing any updating to the apartments yourself?

Yes, I was surprised yesterday leaving the casino. I probably head down 3-4 times a year for a day and to be honest, I really hadn't had much luck at the casino this year. So to come out a head a little was surprising.

We don't really do any of the renovations ourselves. Of the ones that are vacant, two were completely updated floor to ceiling, new kitchens, hardwood floors restored in one, carpeting in the other. The third one will also require top to bottom refurbishment, it has the original 1950s kitchen and the woman who lived there smoked a couple packs a day, so the walls will need treating as well.

I dont really know why I am nervous about AKL .. I just did BC and was nervous there too but I loved it !! I am just nervous the first time I try new things I am sure I will love the AKL !!

When you see those animals out there from your balcony you will fall in love with the place!

It was so wonderful to sleep in my own bed last night. You would think with all the travel I do that it would be OK, but I truly miss my bed when I am away.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday... we have too much junk food around here to get rid of before the new year! I think I will try and eat it all... hahaha

Just made reservations for a massage for me and a facial for DD. Someone please tell me that the spa is great at AKL!

I've done a treatment there, it's not as nice as the SSR or GF spa, but they have a small locker room and some treatment rooms. I think there is a shower area and possibly sauna, but it was a while ago when I was there, so I don't quite remember.

I know exactly what you mean about sleeping in your own bed, but I think for me it is not so much the bed itself, but all the kitties in it with us!

For me it was all the pillows and the bed.... We have one of those hybrid memory foam beds, and it makes my back feel wonderful! and the pillows.... I think I am going to start traveling with my pillow...

I have one of those contour pillows in our OL, but when we don't go to WDW I always have to remember to bring it, makes such a difference! Along with my breathing machine, if I remember to put it on when I go to bed!

No, we love the Magical Express! I meant the cab from our house to Logan Airport in Boston usually cost about $40, but if we take public transportation instead, it's only $5 each

Booked 4 nights in a studio savanna view @ Kidani..Waitlisted for Jambo Concierge studio, but aren't getting our hopes up 5 months out.

We are taking some of the cash my aunt left me to pay for the flight that we dont have enough miles for, and for food...We plan on only CS meals, as it's cheaper and we dont see the value in getting a TIW for this one trip. We HAVE to do Sanaa as it's our fav, but appetizers and drinks, no entrees.
No parks, just chilling at the resort: pool, etc..Pool bars mostly We'll do monorail crawl one day, we'll do DTD during the day, and stroll the BW one night.

We must be insane, but if we didnt already have 4 nights boarding for Beauty pre-paid, I wouldnt even be considering it.

Awesome!!!! I don't think it's insane at all. It'll be really nice to get away and relax, and hopefully the knowledge that this is happily waiting for you will get you through until them Is the work situation any better?

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying. The taxi from WDW to MCO is about $40 too so I just assumed that's what you were talking about. I thought, why would they take public transportion, they must have had a horrible experience for that to happen.
