Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

Teaching this morning and a Jazz Festival to adjudicate this afternoon. I have a cold. I have not been sick all year, despite having spent a goodly portion of it in and out of hospitals! I guess my body and mind have finally told me it is OK for me to be sick. :rotfl:

Finally all caught up.

Well, it's official, I've rented 108 of my DVC points out to a friend:sad1: I am so happy to be able to do that for them, but so sad for me..They are doing 8 nights in a DVC studio @ AKLV Jambo.

We still have plenty of points left over after that and we have 4 nights already pre paid for Beauty at Fenway Bark, so we MAY, if a miracle happens, go for a 4 night resort only trip..No parks, no TS places..I already have enough air miles that would be $70 each way for me..Scott has only a few miles and will lose what he does have if he doesnt travel by 10/12.
We were supposed to be renting out all our '12 points so we could go visit a friend in Germany, but we cant afford that either...I think I may end up renting the rest of my '12 points out too:sad1: If I'm worried about a roof over our heads, I cant be worried about vacations.:sad1:

 Hoping 2012 will be a better year as you have had a rough year.

:wave2:

Hi from Japan, hope everyone is having a good day. It is so funny being a day ahead of everyone we know.

I gotta figure out how to do a hidden Mickey cake. DS asked for one for his b-day and he is only 5:banana:. I have fully indoctrinated him:rolleyes1

:wave2: My kids see hidden mickeys everywhere so I have them brainwashed too!:lmao:

From wdwmagic.com:

"Disney's Animal Kingdom to lose a number of character meet and greets, including Jiminy Cricket
Nov 14, 2011

It seems that come December, Disney's Animal Kingdom may be losing some of its meet and greets, and with that, one of the classic Disney characters. Jiminy Cricket and Pocahontas will be leaving Rafiki's Planet watch (Planet Watch is the only place in Walt Disney World where you can meet Jiminy Cricket). Terk, along with Lilo and Stitch are also set to be removed. The entertainment cut will also see the end of "The Adventure Begins" welcome show. These changes coincide with the introduction of a new character lunch offering at Tusker House, which begins on December 4 2011. No word yet on whether there will be any new additions as replacements, or if they are simply being cut from the line-up."

:sad1:

That is not good news. We met JC in 2010 :sad2:

HAPPY WEEKEND to everyone !!! :grouphug: laura

Nice pictures.:santa: We actually started decorating last night. We always put up a Christmas tree in our downstairs and then the day after Thanksgiving put up a real one upstairs in our family room.

Only 35 days until Christmas.:scared1:

Good morning! Have a great day, Elin. I also have a cold and I haven't had one in several years. The timing is good though -- we should be fine by Thanksgiving! :thumbsup2

We're DINKs (double income, no kiddies), are there any activities/things to do that are appropriate for adults? I don't drink alcohol, but DH does enjoy a pint or two, so the lounge does hold some appeal to him...is there anything beyond that though?

Now about the pool, we're staying at Kidani, but we're wondering if it would be worth it to visit the main pool at Jambo house. Any recommendations?

And lastly, we'd like to try one resort restaurant. We've discovered there are 3 choices, Jiko, Boma, and Sanaa. We're leaning toward Sanaa, but as first timers to this resort, is it a good choice??

Only 2 months to go before we leave!!!!!!

Thank you!!!

Congrats on the reservation! Both pools at AKL are wonderful; Kidani's is larger, but I think for us long-timers, the Jambo pool (Uzima) will always hold that special place in our hearts! (oh, and the pool bar!! :rotfl:)

What I would definitely recommend for you is the Wanyama Safari. Pricey, but it is unique to AKL and it is a wonderful experience with a small group. After the safari, the group dines at Jiko (included in the cost). :goodvibes

As to the 3 restaurants, Jiko is the "signature dining" restaurant; Boma is a (wonderful) buffet; Sanaa is a lovely table service restaurant - with views of the animals on Sunset Savannah.

There is a Culinary Tour offered (3:45 or 4:00pm daily) of Boma & Jiko. It takes about 20-25 minutes and you get to do a little sampling -- this would be something you 2 should do your first or 2nd day. (it's free!)

I'm sure others will have some great ideas for you! Have a wonderful time!

Elin, hope you feel better soon!

I am of the philosophy that if I drink some alcohol every night, it will kill all the germs... So I have a vodka martini for dessert almost everynight....:rotfl:

Back from AKL and finally found a few free minutes to post some pictures. :goodvibes

Maybe that's why I don't get sick either! Fleas and mosquitos don't seem to like the taste of my blood as well, perhaps too much wine pulsing through them! :lmao:

Great pictures Kay! You are making me homesick for my visit in 5 months and 15 days!

I totally agree with Laura, the Wanyama Safari is definitely worth the money, delicious food and an experience of a lifetime! I'll admit I havnt been to Sanaa yet, but have an ADR for March since people have said its delicious. However, Boma has some scrumptious offerings also. I'd try them all, why only one? :)

Kay, thanks so much for the pictures! Makes me quite homesick!
