The doctors think my MIL should be able to walk again at least with a cane if not on her own. But I think it will still be a long road to recovery.

Just a simple question to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Veteran's. We have now reached our official ten days out before arrival. We have pool view reserved, would you do early check in, or wait until you get to the lodge, and hope that you just might receive an unexpected upgrade to a nicer location? This is our first time to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and we just want to do it right. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

miprender - The prognosis for your MIL is outstanding. And I agree with Brandi about the positive influence of a supportive family. After my husband's catastrophic stroke in January at age 60, we were first told he would not survive. Later came the updates, most of which were very discouraging. Long story, short... he is now walking with a walker and a cane and continues to improve. Being supportive means many things and you may have to push as well as praise her to make certain she recovers all she can. I will keep your whole family in my thoughts!

I would wait. If you do online check-in you cannot "discuss" room location with the Cast Member if you don't like where you are put. That is not to say you can't go back and ask for a change, but (in my opinion) it is easier to do that when they are telling you where your room is at check-in.

I don't know if pixie dust upgrades happen with online check-in either. Maybe someone who has done this knows more!

10 days out will put you right in the middle of the Food and Wine Festival, I am guessing but I would think that an upgrade would be hard to come to by during that time...

...I love the chalk art! Who drew them? I remember one time, while sitting at the bus depot waiting for a bus, there was a CM who had a table set up there with several types of egg shells, and she was explaining the different types and their differences to be able to distinguish between the eggs...
