Thanks to you guys sending us some Pixie dust we finally got out of Newark at 1:00. Arrived at 5:30 at AKL so we were cutting it close for Boma's but threw different clothes on and made it on time. Now for the big news: upgraded from pool view to savanna view at the end overlooking Kidani. Great location. Already saw a few giraffes. Things are looking up!

My wonderful husband told me today that we should go back to WDW sooner than later! WOW! I woke up in a funk yesterday and told my DD that I wanted to book a Disney vacation today and today, hubby springs this on me We are trying to decide between AKL and WL. We have stayed at AKL once before (the week after 9-11 in 2001) and WL in 2004. Decisions, decisions. Reading all of your posts helps but we still haven't decided. Ugh. I really want to be in WDW but still can't make up my mind. If we choose AKL we would probably only be able to afford standard or pool view. Any drawbacks with these? I wish we could do Savanna view but it doesn't look very promising (unless we get upgraded at check-in!).
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Hooray for the hubby! The animals would win me over every single time. There are so many viewing areas there really isn't a drawback with either standard or poolview. Some people actually don't like to spend the extra money when they can see the animals from so many other places. I'd say being at AKL in any room is better than not being there, but I'm definitely in love with the place.

Thanks! We did OK, but now we're back, working on the food porn on my PTR. Talk about a tiring day! The bad part is after dinner, my phone decided that it was having too much fun in DL and wanted to stay. We checked Lost & Found before we came home, but it hadn't turned up.

Oh no! Any way to put a trace on it with your cell company? I think some phones have that feature. I hope they can find it and send it to you.

I'm so glad Fran is now on board with staying in 1-bedrooms. I'm glad it was only for one night and not a longer vacation.

Elin-Congratulations on your 20th anniversary! It is definitely a gift to be able to be a teacher. I don't think I'd have the patience for it.

The stays with studios are all 1-2 nighters out at the VGC which is only about 1/2 an hour from our house. It's mostly because we have a late night/early morning or we might be indulging and don't feel it's safe to drive home. Our longer vacations are at WDW and I won't consider less than a one bedroom there because if we fly across the country I want a nice room! Next time will be at Kidani!

The two resorts are similar, but the AKL has an upgraded look from WL which could or could not help in the decisiojs but it has two of my favorite things... Animals and CM's from Africa to educate you on the animals. It is truly a unique experience.

We are headed to our first ever stay at AKL but the flight has been delayed a couple hours due to some maintenance issue. BAH. This is only a five day trip for our anniversary and I don't want to spend it all in Newark! Hoping for some pixie dust soon. We have a reservation at Boma's for 6:00 and I want some time to unpack and relax before dinner.

...hmmmm, that's funny - my brother and his family just returned from a 9-day stay at WDW and their flight back [to NYC] was delayed too....
