Is it true that WCC is not as much fun as it used to be?

The one restaurant my husband and children have requested is the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We had such a wonderful time there last trip. I've read several reviews stating the servers have toned down their acts and aren't pulling as many crazy stunts. Could this just be a case of some reviewers hitting it on a bad night? or perhaps their server was having a bad night?

It probably depends on the day. We were just there and the servers were acting up with each other and some of the guests. There were some servers who were quieter but the loud ones more than made up for it.

I haven't noticed a significant trend, one way or the other, over the years. On the average, it seems just as fun as ever.

We dined there twice this past trip and it is sooo 50/50. It depend so much on your server and how much they are into it. We did not have a good one either time:( No one in our family actually wanted to go back this time at all, so maybe in a couple of years we will try again.

Well, maybe we'd have better luck asking for a specific server. Those of you that have had good experiences do you remember the name of your server?

we went last September and were a little disappointed. We had heard such great things about WCC.

Maybe it was just the crowd when we were there, but my kids had more fun playing legos in the waiting area. Not much going in at the restaurant.

I'd like to give them another try when we go back this September, but DH says no..

Whispering Canyon Cafe is the same as 50's Prime Time Cafe when it comes to how much fun you'll have. It all depends on your server. After a few non-interactive trips to 50's (two adult males, the server probably assumed we wouldn't be into it), we're now making it a point to specifically tell the CM at the podium, "We want to play. Please put us with a very interactive server."

We went twice in 2003 (we were staying at the WL) and loved it. Once on that trip, our server wasn't too into it, maybe because we were so tired after the long trip, but others around us were having lots of fun, and the whole place was a blast. On our second visit that trip, our server was way into it, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Because we had such a blast in 2003, we made a special trip over there from the Polynesian in July, and were so very disappointed. Our server wasn't part of it at all, and the entire place was quieter than before. I could see an overall tamer atmosphere there--and it's not just because of our server. I also think the food quality declined too.

If I were staying at the WL, I'd eat there, but otherwise, I do not think it is worthy of a special trip to the WL. Of course, if you hadn't been there before, you wouldn't be comparing it to the past, as we were. My kids and DH also don't have a desire to go back, either, so when we go back to WDW next year, we'll try something new.

I read Diamon Lil is good. Has anyone had luck with requesting a server either you've heard about or have watched in action while you waited??

we have never been lucky by recieved a engaging server. My kids are alway watching other tables have the fun. I hope one day we get that great service

we went to wcc in march & it was wild, we had such a nice meal & lots of fun.
