is it true sw has 0 rides for a 36 inch child

I looked on the website and it appears that the rides start at 38 inches? one does anways they rest are 42 inches? Please tell me sw has rides for the 36 incher? My son will be four and we could avoid the rides but his 6 yo sister has been looking forward to them....we might have to skip it.

Sea World isn't really about the rides. You can spend a very full day and never ride a ride.

You could (and should)
1. catch any or all of the shows: Believe (orcas), Blue Horizons(dolphins), Clyde and Seamore (Sea lion, otter, and walrus - very funny!), Pets A hoy (pets rescued from the animal shelter. a 4 year old and 6 year old will love it). You could also catch A'lure but we missed it. It is "only" humans.

2. feed the dolphins, stingrays, sealions, and sharks

3. Check out the exhibits

4. Go to an animal encounter at the hamlet

5. We did not go over to Shamu's Happy Harbor, but I believe there are young child friendly rides, carnival games and a huge climbing tower.

I think you could have a perfectly satisfying day and never go on a single ride.

Some of the rides are pretty intense for someone that age, especially Manta and Kraken. Shamu's Happy Harbor located near the back of the park has rides especially designed for kids your son and daughters ages. The site has a height restriction listed, but I dont believe there is a height restriction on those rides as long as there is an adult riding with the child. I've seen infant children on some of these rides before.

the website stated a min height restriction for shamu's happy harbour for all but one ride. It doesn't make sense though I can't see them not having any rides for a four year old. If you have seen infants on maybey I will have to call and find out if no one else knows. The website led me to belive he wouldn't be allowed on the happy harbour rides. We are going for the shows but dd will want to ride the shamu coaster and it doesn't look like ds can???

I think the ht restrictions in Shamu's Happy Harbor are to ride alone...little bitty kids can definitely ride the carousel and the others with parents.

Personally, like the others posted, we avoid Shamu's Happy Harbor at all costs because it is a time trap and the rides are so SLOW loading, and we love SW for so many other reasons that we have trouble fitting in all in one day!

Want kiddie rides? Go to a carnival. There's nothing special about the ones at Sea World. Even shamu isn't that exciting, and shorter than Barnstormer.

If one parent wants to wait and grab seats for a shamu show, and some one else take the kids over to the big play net, that might help them burn off some energy.

36" is to ride alone. 42" for Journey to Atlantis and 54" for Kraken and Manta.

I don't like carnivals. I didn't ask about where to go for kiddie rides just about the restrictions. and the website actually states there are two rides my son can ride with an adult (any height actually can) but the rest of them including the shamu coaster he can not ride even WITH an adult. I am not bashing sw just looking for info.

I think we're all just trying to tell you, not to get hyped up about the rides in happy harbour. There's just so much more to the park than that small little area.

I think there's only about 4 or 5 rides total.
The carousel, the one that takes you about 50ft up and drops, swinging boat that spins around, and then one like the tea cups but goes up in the air. Of course shamu's coaster.

Shamu, the one that drops, and the spinning boat I could all see having a height restriction, as each child should be able to sit upright and hold themself up during the ride.

We were just at Seaworld 2 weeks ago with a 2 year old, and she did the merry go round, teacups, frog hopper thing and the climbing tower . I t hink your 4 year old would really like it!

thanks Billwendy. I just want him to ride something so that is good to hear. We are going for the shows but if he sees a ride I want to let him ride one or two.

My understanding is that anyone under the heights listed needs a person (over 14 according to the website) to ride with them. I would guess (I'll be able to tell you for sure in a couple of weeks) that the point of the area is for kids to have a good time. Honestly though, we're going to be there for a day and a half and I'm having a hard time finding a lot of time for the rides. I'm sure it will all work out and we'll fit in whatever we all want to do once we're there.

They love the kiddie coasters and they love orcas so I thought if they could ride the orca coaster it would be nice....our focus will also be the shows. We have season passes to Marineland locally and get our fill of rides there.

We had no trouble and were not rushed at all in seeing all the shows, riding all the rides and doing everything SW had to offer in one day with our two kids. We did not skip a thing.
To a kid a ride is a ride is a ride- good , bad or indifferent. Try telling them a good reason to skip them- not happening!!

After the lines and hubbub of WDW, our day at Sea World was relaxing and meandering in comparision and they rated it just as high as any of the WDW parks. In fact, on our next trip they asked to skip Animal Kingdom and do SW instead. There is something about feeding those dolphin that just mesmerizes them and they are 9 and 11.

bkfree good to know thanks....is there a minimum age to feed the dolphins? We live 15 minutes from Niagara falls so we go to marineland all summer...can't feed the dolphins but my kids love feeding the beluga's they are 3 and 5

No minimum age to feed the dolphins, although everyone who goes in to feed the dolphins above the age of 2 has to pay the $7.00 for a tray of fish. My 3 year old did it last year and loved it!
