Is it too early?

We are starting to talk about our next trip to WDW. We want our youngest to be out of diapers and able to experience more than last trip. So we are aiming for 2009 during free dining. Or the week of Thanksgiving 2009. Am I crazy to want to already start to plan? To me I enjoyed the planning almost as much as the trip it self.

I don't think I've EVER planned any vacation more than 2-3 months ahead of time (even my WDW trips), but that's just me. Lots of people plan a year or so ahead, especially if you want to think about saving enough money, getting the first choice of rooms, condos, ADR's, etc (although those are still only 180 days out).

Every time we go to WDW, we always say "This will be the last one for awhile". Then we're down there and somehow, we start thinking, and planning for the next one is always underway. :lmao:

I would say it's never too early, and particularly if you're thinking about going around Thanksgiving. Look at it this way, you'll have plenty of time to really research where you want to stay (and then book it), you'll be able to watch the threads closely around Thanksgiving this year to get a good feel for crowds, etc., and you'll have plenty of time to save all the $$$ you'll need, especially considering the holiday pricing!

Have fun planning!:thumbsup2

I love planning our family vacations and none as much as our Disney ones. THere is so much information out there and it really does keep me excited during the long wait. Last year I worried that planning 6 months in advance would leave expectations too high once we got there, but we had the best trip! And I've been planning since our last trip (Sept. 2007) for our Nov/Dec 2008 trip. My husband thinks I'm crazy but he also appreciates being able to sit back and leave all the planning to me. So if you enjoy planning (and don't stress out about it) I say plan as far out as you want!! Its half the fun!!!

We are already planning our 2009 trip. We are waiting for our boys to be 3 & 5!

We're planning our first trip for 2009 and there will be 13 people. I'm pretty much planning it. My children will be 2 and 4 but this is the only time my parents will be going and asked if we'd go so they could spend sometime with their grandkids in Disney. How could we say no? Tomorrow is a big planning session to get everyone on track and I'm kind of dreading it, but I'm sure we'll have lots of fun once we're there.

I was thinking of going around the same time. We were talking about it only last night. Mind you we have just got back. But its really not as long away as it sounds. Time goes so quicky.

I think half the fun is planning the trip! It got a little disappointing this past August when all the planning was done and I had to sit back and wait for the trip to come. I LOVE putting the plans together!! We won't be going until April of 2010:sad1: -so I wonder when I can book for that trip!!?:confused3 ;)

I don't think it is ever too early. My first trip (as an adult) I planned 11 months out. We are going to try and not go again until 2010. I want to wait until the Harry Potter attraction is finished at Universal so we can hit that while we are there.

I agree, it's never too early to start planning. We started planning our current trip back in Sept '06, we still have 312 days to go. I too think that planning the trip is half the fun.

I'll be doing the happy dance before you know it.:cool1: :woohoo:
