Is it time consuming to get to Whitewater Snacks?

Hmmmm....not sure now. Is it worth the effort for food that is possibly just okay? Of course, I haven't really seen any one DCA place loved by all. I'm not sure it's a good idea for my kids to see what that GCH looks like inside since I want them to be happy with CCI, lol.

I didn't mean to discourage you. I like Whitewater OK.....but prefer some of the others mentioned. IMO...WW is basically counterservice in a nice hotel...but others (who's opinion i respect) like it alot.

But it's no more than 75 seconds from the Griz Rapids FP machines, so it's not any "effort" to eat there.

Regarding CCI vs. GCH. I like the CCI (alot)....but it ain't no GCH.

Compare the functional (but kind of dumpy) motel type rooms in Port Orleans Riverside to a fab hotel that is a cross between the WL & GF. :) DO go into it....check out the lobby & the menus at the restaurants (like Napa Rose)....use it as a shortcut to DTD or the DH or Paradise Pier Hotel.

Go into it.....every parent should hear from their kids......."But Mom....... WHY couldn't we have gotten a room HERE?????!!!!" :lmao:

I too enjoy WWS. For the food choices as well as the ambiance. It reminds me of when we are staying at WDW. :goodvibes

I used to get the French Dip sandwich but sadly that is now gone.:confused3

It is really easy to get to. I always make sure we have our receipt handy in case they ask for it but haven't been asked for it yet-We've probably eaten there 8-10 times.

I haven't had the dogs at Award Weiner but I do like the one at WWS. They toast the outside of the bun on the grill. It comes with chili.

Okay, I have to confess, one of things I really like at WWS is that I like to order some of my food customized. Meaning, I like a chili dog but I don't like my chili put on ahead of time. I hate a soggy bun. So I order my chili on the side. Usually they'll do the cheese on the side as well. I opt for no onions.

Here's the dog with fries, chili on the side

And here it is again with fresh fruit instead of fries. The strawberries were very good. Chili on the side.

Another one of my favorites is the Chicken nachos. ;)However I don't like the cheese sauce. ;) So I order no cheese sauce, cheddar cheese only-it's shredded real cheese. Then I get everything else on the side as well-sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and jalapenos (actually I don't get these-this day they gave them to me anyway). So you may wonder why everything on the side? Good question! Since I don't get the cheese sauce, only the shredded cheese, the cheese is not melted. So here's another good thing about WWS. Being as it's a food court, there is a microwave there (as well as a toaster) and I put my nachos in there to melt the cheese.

The chicken is really good, the chips are really good. Like homemade! I think they use the tortillas from the Mission Tortilla Factory. They are fresh and nice and corny. I like to share these with someone-too much for just me. They also come with beef.

One last thing, WWS has fill yourself sodas. So when we do get a soda, we refill it before re-entering DCA.:cloud9:

We also enjoy Ralph Brennan's Jazz Express. Especially the fried shrimp and Gumbo Ya-ya.:goodvibes

YES!! That is so funny because I was thinking that! I almost don't want them to see the inside. I'm not sure I want to see it lol.

Dizneydaz - Thank you for the pics!! My DD14 LOVES chicken nachos, and I do appreciate you telling why you get everything on the side because I would want it melted too. :) I love that you can refill the pops too. Sometimes I just need my Diet Coke, you know? Those strawberries look great! I'm getting hungry!

I'm a proponent of try it once and see. I just wanted the OP to know that there are decent food options inside DCA as well. It's not so much that WWS is better or worse than the other food choices; sometimes it's a matter of taste and convenience. If the OP's family is really hungry and close in proximity already to a DCA eating place, then it may not be as convenient or worth it to them to walk across to WWS even if it is easy to get to. While the food at WWS is fine, it certainly doesn't wow. If OP is looking for a certain atmosphere, a quiet respite from the parks, then WWS might serve that purpose.

I love nachos so I'm looking forward to trying those this trip!!! I tried the Tortillia Joes nachos on our last trip and they were Yucky!

Tortilla Jo's is just plain Yucky! I just don't understand how they're still in business. The only thing I can think of is just that it's in a touristy spot and so they don't need to depend on repeat business.

No French Dip!!! I love French Dip and was really hoping to order it. Does anyone else serve it?

I'm on my way home from a stay at VGC. They did ask for a key in the morning at the DCA entrance from GC but not later in the day. I had a turkey sandwich last night at the bakery, it was very good!

Here is the chicken sandwhich. They cut it in half for us. It has guacamole and roasted peppers. Yum! :lovestruc

One reason we like WWS is for the quiet, uncrowded break it provides. Even at noon time in summer, it was very peaceful in there. We go there every trip and have always liked it. Our favorite is the chicken sandwhich. Usually, DH and I will split one. It is much bigger than the one at Taste Pilots. We always save our reciept to show when we go back in, but never had to show it in the afternoon.

Ditto, ditto, and ditto. We LOVE the quiet atmosphere, we go there every trip, and DH & I split the chicken sandwhich. :goodvibes

After riding Grizzly River Rapids 8 times in a row, DH and the kids loved sitting in there drinking hot chocolate after changing into dry clothes. And the kids loved that they got to put their own whipped cream on their hot chocolate! Sigh. Hurry up December!!!

We get the beef nachos and oh so yummmmmy!!!!!!!! Usually the sour cream, salsa etc is all on the nachos not in the containers. The cheese is good too. Now i'm craving some :)

you sold me on this sandwich when you mentioned guacamole and roasted peppers-yummy! Dh and I will have to share the nachos and the sandwich:goodvibes

If they ever get rid of that chicken sandwhich, we will be so disappointed! We like the nachos and get them sometimes (to me the chips are too thick- I like thinner), but we love the chicken sandwhich.

They also have a reasonable breakfast. It is certainly cheaper than Storyteller's Cafe for breakfast. By the way, we often use Storyteller's Cafe as a nice lunch break. The food is reasonable, you're away from the crowds in DCA, and you have a nice air conditioned place to sit down and let someone serve you. WWS is cheaper, though.

We are staying at GCH for our trip, we have never had breakfast there. Does anyone know what's the menu?

Thanks :goodvibes
