My mom and I just got back from Disney and did three character meals, LLT, 1900 Park Faire and Garden Grill. While we thought they were great we really didn't think that it was worth taking a pic with the characters... Anyways, at 1900 Park Faire, Cinderella literally came up to out table and said "Would you like my picture?" She was stunned when we responded that we did not (very politely). Personally I thought that it was slightly arrogant the way she put it... Does anybody else go and not take pictures with the characters?

At Garden Grill the charcters just walked by and waved and in Mickey's case ran. So I don't know what you are supposed to expect...

We had a great time at GG chip and dale sat at our table and messed with DD for soe time.

We have plenty of times just ate and not taken any pics other times that seems like all we do is wait for them to come around for the pics.

Are you 2 adults? If that is the case, I don't think that it is too unusual not to take pictures. However, I think MOST families with kids want at least 1 or 2 pics of their little ones with each character, at least the first few times they eat there. Isn't it kind of the reason to see the characters? Interaction and the chance for pics and autographs?

When my Dad and I go, or BF and I we always take pictures. But I'm into the characters I get their autograph and photo everytime I see them. I think if it were just adults or if you weren't into the characters then I could see not taking photos.

Most of the time we are two adults (except on the trips where our niece comes along) and we always take pictures at the character meals we attend. I haven't really paid that much attention but I don't ever remember a table of people who actually engaged with the characters not taking pictures.

As for Cindy, she is a princess, it is perfectly in character for her to assume you would want her picture.

We've gone to LTT our last three trips and only took pics once, which was on our honeymoon. I really don't see many people taking pics there from what I've noticed. pirate:

The primary purpose of going to character meals is to see and be with the characters. Thus, if you are there for that reason, it does seem uncommon not to be taking pictures with the characters (because, after all, if all you want to do is see them, that can easily be done without paying the exhorbitant prices charged for the so-so food at character meals).

I dont think it was out of the norm for Cindy to ask...many handlers or CM's will offer to take the pictures for you if you want to be in the picture with your family.

Sometimes DH and I will take pictures with the characters (at the meals) but most often we do not.

:mickeyjum When I go with my husband, he often really shy about getting photos with the characters until he "warms up" a bit. but if Cinderella asked if he'd like a picture with her, there's no way he could refuse. So maybe her asking is a way to let you know that it's ok to take a picture (as an adult), you're special too.

When I took my daughter to the Princess Breakfast several years ago, we had a similar experience with some of the princesses. I took my video camera, but couldn't manage my DD and camera on top of that. I was surprised that a couple of the princesses seemed put out that I was taping but did not have a real camera...:confused3

Oh, well! We had a blast, and my DD has a great princess movie!

Sometimes the characters are uncertain if adults dining WANT a picture with them or if they are just there for a nice meal. So, although she could have asked differently so she didn't come off sounding arrogant, I think she wanted to make sure you knew that she wasn't going to leave you out.
It can be awkward for the characters if the adults don't say something or give a hint that they would like an autograph or picture. And some people are offended if the character doesn't ask! It's confusing. From now on if you are going to a character meal just for the food, I would tell them from the beginning so they will know. Takes the guess work out, ya know? ;)

once my DH and i had breakfast at CRT and whenever a character came by (including Cinderella) we politely said "no picture, thanks!" (some of them actually looked relieved!)

We are a party of 3 adult "kids", so that is the main reason we go to Character meals is to get pictures. Dm and I can't stand in really long lines so these meals are a great way to get out pictures and I love when the characters interact with us. Each time we have gone we were celebrating something and they always make a big fuss. The only time we ever had a problem, which wan't really a problem, Tigger bounced up behind mom and startled her, and mom wasn't really happy that early in the morning (made for a great picture, tho).
