Is it strange to do a combine Birthday at WDW?

Hello everyone,
Has anyone done a combine birthday trip at WDW for their kids?
Our kids have a long Thanksgiving break, so we decided to book from Nov. 26 to Dec. 7. This will give us a long Disney trip.
The kids want to celebrate their birthdays so bad at WDW.
My youngest son has a birthday in Oct and the oldest son is in Dec.
We thought it would be nice to celebrate it on this trip. Since it's not their real birthday is this frown upon?

No absolutely not! We do it all the time, no one has ever said anything negative. We don't combine but we do celebrate their birthdays when we're there. Usually a few weeks away from actual birthday, so it's never on the actual day, but they don't care. If you're celebrating, they're celebrating with you. :)

I read somewhere (can't remember where) but they said there is a 6 month window from whatever you are actually celebrating. However I don't it really matters.

So you're within the 6 month window :thumbsup2

Go for it! I will be there on my actual birthday, however my boyfriend's birthday is 8 days prior. Even though his will have passed by then, we are still jointly celebrating! Big dinners planned, and you bet we'll be wearing our birthday buttons! He's not as huge a Disney fan as I am but he still has a great time when he goes.

I say celebrate until your heart's content!! Have a wonderful trip and birthdays!!

We did a combined bday trip before but my middle 2 children actually celebrated their bdays at WDW as they are a week apart. DH also celebrated his bday there since YDD and he share a bday. All but 1 of my kids has had a bday trip to WDW.

I'll be honest I don't really get the whole celebrate when it's not your bday thing. It's not like Disney really cares if it is your bday or something. Every day is someone's bday. They don't give you things (maybe a cupcake at a TS meal) and there is no special package.

No one is going to tell you it is too late to celebrate or not say Happy Birthday just because its not really their bday but it seems like an odd concept TBH.

It's not at all strange, and there's no timeframe. All that matters is that *you're celebrating*. Since you're honoring their birthdays, you're celebrating! Requirement fulfilled. :)

We are calling our trip in May "Birthday-Palooza." My daughter's birthday is 5 days after we leave; my husband's is 3; my father-in-law's birthday is while we're there, and the two girls we're taking and my mother-in-law have birthdays 2-3 weeks before we arrive. In fact, I am the only one without an April/May birthday! They will all be wearing birthday buttons!

I don't think it is strange. I totally plan to do this in the future when my kids are older. One is a June birthday and one is a July birthday. I plan to go in between and celebrate both.

If anyone asks if you are celebrating anything, you can say, truthfully, that you are celebrating both birthays, because that is what you are doing celebrating. You are not saying it IS their birthdays.

Unrelated, but my sister once got to be part of the dolphin show at Sea World because she raised her hand when they asked if anyone had a birthday.

She was in 6th grade, so for the first time she didn't have to sit with my parents during the show. They were fuming- it was NOT her birthday.

She was genuinely confused when they approached her, mad, after the show. Why would she lie? My sister really thought they were asking if anyone HAD a birthday, and didn't know why other people didn't raise their hands.

So, if you have a birthday- celebrate it!

I'll be honest. I find it odd when people "celebrate" a birthday and it's not their birthday. We went to Ohana one night and I think every table but ours was "celebrating" a birthday. Clearly everyone in the restaurant didn't have a birthday that day! It made me sad for the people who actually did have one, as I felt it detracted from the specialness of their day. It would be like having a birthday party for your child, and all the guests decided to "celebrate" their own birthdays at the party.

Not trying to be mean, but since you asked for opinions I personally have to say I would not do this. Obviously I am in the minority.

6 month window, 2 year window. They don't care. Get them birthday buttons and go. Disney doesn't care, so all you have to consider is whether other people care. Some do, some don't.

Last trip was in October, my birthday is September and mom's is November. It was a birthday trip and WDW didn't say a word when we made it a combined birthday celebration. IN fact Brown Derby brought us cake and the waiter knew our birthdays were not in Oct because he asked.

I find it odd when people "celebrate" a birthday and it's not their birthday.

I think it would be weird to go to Applebees to celebrate your birthday when it wasn't your birthday (or at least the week of your birthday, if your birthday is a Wed, you might celebrate on Sat.) but Disney is a rare trip for many people. I might be given Disney as a birthday present in January, but we can't go until May. The trip would still be my birthday trip, and I'd think it would be appropriate to celebrate. But if I went to Applebees in May to celebrate my birthday with the gift card I got in January, that would be weird- because the restaurant is accessible to me all year round.

I think many people plan Disney as a special trip, so it makes a bit of sense that over half the restaurant would be celebrating something if you go to an onsite place.

I have always made it a point to celebrate any of my family birthdays while at WDW even though all of our birthdays fall out of the time frame of our actual trips.

Somebody above said it best, you are "CELEBRATING" your kids birthdays, and although some people might frown upon, Disney cast members do not care and will be more than happy to oblige.

At the end of the day is about making your kids day special, and even if it is a little cup cake with a candle and a Happy Birthday Card signed by many of the characters, it is these little things that will make your kids a magical day!!!

My friend and I both celebrated our 30th birthdays while we were there Jan 9-18. Her bday is in Nov and mine in Feb. I wore my button everyday :goodvibes

I got 1 or 2 free little cupcakes (the basic vanilla) and that was it. If I was showered with free things all week I might have felt guilty about celebrating everyday, but that really isn't the case.
