If you rent, I would stick with the Rent/Trade board and work out a deal if you need to postpone, but have everything in writing. I know when we did rent points out (well before COVID), we gave the option to modify up until 45 days before check-in, that way we had a cushion of time to get everything done. But we did have some caveats with it, if the new reservation was more points they would need to pay the difference with the condition that we had enough points available to do it of course, if the new reservation was less points there were no refunds or partial refunds. If the use year changed, we also had the caveat that it was conditional on being able to use the points that were used on the old reservation.
With current policies we would probably do something similar if we were to rent out points, but let it be up until something like 48 hours in advance since points won't go into holding.
I just thought you should know that there are people that would work with you so you wouldn't be completely out of luck.
