Hi! I have never bought anything on ebay before. What do you do? Is it safe to get the Disney vochers ? Is it better to use paypal or personal check? What is paypal and how does it work? Thanks!

You will pay a lot more to purchase vouchers on e-bay. I watched e-bay for weeks and couldn't believe my eyes! It is better to join the Hot Wire savings club - free for 30 days - and then cancel your membership if you decide it's not for you. You can buy the vouchers from Hotwire for $11.50 each. Keep in mind there are different kinds of meal vouchers. The price I am quoting you is for the "quick and casual" ones. I joined with the intention that I would cancel but I am actually getting some wonderful deals by being a member. Just a thought!

I was going to buy from Hotwire until I heard rumors that you can no longer buy them. I called Hotwire last night and they told me they no longer have them or plan to get them anymore because of Disney's new tickets. So ebay is the only way that I know. I do see that their prices are way too high! :earseek:

I buy a lot of things on eBay and sell a few. I've had very few problems through the years. I always pay with a credit card through Paypal if that is an option. Three times (in about five years) the seller has failed to come through with the item I bought and I disputed the charge and got a refund. I've been told that the credit card is not obligated to credit the money to you when using Paypal, but I've never had a problem.

I would check the feedback of the seller and buy from someone with a good track record. I have some leftover vouchers from our Christmas trip to list and I'm hoping that the prices may actually go up a bit now that they are getting harder to find.

I've only had one problem in all my years of eBaying. That was not a voucher purchase but I had used PayPal to pay for the item. The item never arrived and the seller didn't respond to my emails. I notified PayPal and they also tried to contact the seller with no luck. PayPal refunded my money.

For the most part, people on eBay are fairly honest. If you decide to go the eBay route, check the seller's feedback. Make sure that it the feedback is for selling (not just buying). And don't overpay for those vouchers.

You may want to check the DIS Auctions . I just saw some vouchers listed there recently and they were not overpriced. Look in the Miscellaneous link.

I have bought both park hopper passes and meal vouchers on ebay. I have to tell you that the stress that I was under worrying that I had fakes was not worth the money I saved. I stressed about both right up until I used them and they worked. Plus--you have to consider the shipping costs when you figure the price and all...also, ebay does not allow the sale of partially used tickets (such as the two days remaining on a 5 day pass)--so beware.

drumflower, sending you a PM.
